3) LATIN AMERICAN SOLIDARITY: Ecuador's President Correa Says 'Economic War' in Venezuela Echoes Chile Coup - “After the elections in March 1973 in Chile, the defeated bourgeoisie chose the path of economic war to overthrow Allende: stockpiling, speculation, etc,” the President said, adding “The resemblance is striking with what is happening now in Venezuela.” Read more here

4) ANALYSIS: Latin America, Venezuela & the Global South Stand Up to US Sanctions - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has led a chorus of the Global South in angrily rejecting new sanctions against his nation signed into law by US President Barack Obama in December. 'The Venezuela Defence of Human Rights and Civil Society Act of 2014', earlier agreed by the US Congress and Senate, authorises sanctions against Venezuelan officials. The new Act now calls for a US government strategy to increase funding for and availability of anti-government media in Venezuela, including utilising the Voice of America for this end.
