Meeting minutes of last week:-
1. Universal brotherhood and a universal religion already exist in human experience.
2. Priests and sects often obscure this by insisting on exclusivity (Outer display in rituals/habits).
Q&A points (Link)
Q: Are all religions the same ?Religions share core values (truthfulness, compassion, self-discipline, service) and often a recognition of one humanity/God.
They differ mainly on external, cultural elements (rituals, dress, festivals, language, mythology) and on some theological/philosophical details.
Closer to the spiritual core they are more similar, farther out (practices & culture) they diverge.
Q: What is conversion?Conversion is primarily a cultural switch - changing one’s religious/cultural allegiance (rituals, symbols, devotional focus), not the core moral values.
It doesn’t automatically make a person more truthful or compassionate, it changes external orientation and community identity.
Q: What about groups with conversion as an agenda?Organised, coercive proselytizing that targets conversion as a mission is ethically problematic, it can harm social cohesion and individual dignity.
Such activities should be regulated (stopped), coercive conversion is treated as a social harm.
