Hello everyone,

Happy 2014.  I haven’t been very proactive about posting meeting minutes online, but the group is still meeting every other week.  I have several announcements to share.

1)      The VRRS Document draft standard has been stable for over 6 months, and we would very much like to see it being used in real life. The group is very open to suggestions and additions as they are brought up.  I know there are some telemedicine providers who are developing exchange technology right now – we can save you the effort of trying to come up with your own data format, use the VRRS document instead!

2)      We have also drafted a requirements document for transfer protocol.  In lieu of recommending a specific technology, we are instead supplying a proposed set of underlying requirements which can be met by a variety of technical approaches.  Please see this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T3s7ePmUk8boXqgumAJM1DgeIZvdBk7cvXn584m4pwE - we very  much want your feedback. Do you disagree with assertions in the document? Is the scope appropriate? Do you have more things you think should be included?

3)      Upcoming VRRS meetings will be FAQ and demonstration sessions. If you have questions about the document standard, how to implement it, how to use it, or don’t understand how it works and would like to learn more, please join any upcoming call. They are Thursdays 10-11 PST every other week, effective 1/16.

4)      WE NEED MARKETING ASSISTANCE!  The document standard is most useful when it is being utilized widely. Do you know any telemedicine providers who aren’t on this list or who haven’t heard about the draft standard? Forward this email to them, and they can contact me to be added to the mailing list.

5)      Is anyone interested in designing a “VRRS-O-matic”? We need sample data sets for implementers to test on. A simple javascript page could take some fake data and generate a compliant XML document.
