Hello VRguys,

I'm probably creating a new thread for not that much, but I was wondering if they will be some official or unofficial presentation of the rift during the Paris Game Week 2012.
I'have also some other question, do you know if somebody here has already bought the Kickstarter or pre-ordered the developer kit.
And last but not least do you approximately when the Rift will be released. I know it's kinda hard question.

Have a good night

No idea about that. Personally speaking, I don't think it they will be
there, because they are likely in a mad rush right now to get the
SDK/kit out and I cannot imagine Palmer travelling to Europe to do a
presentation at this time. It is possible, but unlikely. However, you
can always ask the conference organizers whether some Oculus
representative is expected to be there.

I have the kit paid on Kickstarter. The only known date is December.
That's all that is publicly known, I haven't got any more precise update
from neither Kickstarter nor Oculus directly. They were asking to
fill/check the shipping address some two weeks ago via Kickstarter, but
that's all.

The company was hiring like crazy recently, they were seeking to fill
some really interesting engineering positions, so I guess we have
something to look forward to.

I think you need to be patient - they are a startup in a mad rush to
deliver their first product and tons of things can go wrong when you are
starting a volume production, even though a prototype was working just
fine.

Regards,

Jan

Don't have to add much, but I also backed Rift on Kickstarter and looking forward to get Devkit myself.

Hi,

The Paris Game Week 2012 is more like a big "Micromania" or "Game shop" with demonstrations of the last games (it's Christmas soon, so editors want to sell games). Don't expect too much from this event, except if you want to try the WiiU before its launch (or Metal Gear Rising ^^). Even Microsoft is not showing Smart Glass because it's not the right event for that, and the public doesn't care for the moment.

Cannot wait to see the Oculus Rift too!

See you!

I just take a slap in my face when I saw your name on the thread.
I cannot believe that VRgeek is big as that, or maybe VR is so small that everybody know each other.
We are so exited on that product you're going to release. Just a little question with the Rift are also tracking the altitude, I mean if you change for example your position from standing to squat.
I just wich you the best success.

Hello world,

I also backed a devkit from KS and I already reserved a DVI port on my computer for it !

@Remi : IIRC, the tracking is orientation-only.

Best,

Naëm

Well, if all you need is to detect when the user stands up or squats,
the accelerometer is good enough detect that change. It is not accurate
position tracking, but it could be good enough for the job.
