When I try to load VPT8 I'm getting the following error message (see first attachment) and I just cannot figure out the solution. When I select "ok" it then seems like it's continuing to load VPT8, but I soon get another "Max (64 bit) has stopped working." I've recently come up to speed on VPT7 because I couldn't get past this error on VPT8. I worked through a host of issues with getting VPT7 working on my windows machines and I'm happy with where I've gotten and I love the functionality of the software. I want to move onto VPT8 because it seems like it has a better GUI and compatibility with new versions of windows.

In other posts regarding missing dlls, someone recommended installing all of the MS Visual C++ Redistributables because the newer versions don't contain all of the files from the older ones and that a dll might be hidden in one of the older ones. I installed all of the x86 versions per their recommendation (though that may be an issue because I'm running 64 bit?) and matched what they had installed: 2005, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2015 to no avail (see my attachment of the installed programs).

Thanks for any recommendations.

I've tried two more steps:

1) Install MS C++ 2012 x86 redistributable based on another google search that pointed to that specific version of the redistributable for a missing msvcr110.dll error. This did not solve the problem.
2) I found what appeared to be an x86 version of MSVCR110.dll in the folder structure for MS Office. I copied that to the SystemX86 folder thinking it would solve my problem. It did get rid of the "Missing MSVCR110.dll" error message, but VPT8 still crashes at the same spot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Matt

Hi,
which version of windows are you using? I just checked VPT 8 on a windows 10 home edition laptop and it worked fine.

Hi,

Did you ever manage to get it working? I am having the exact same problems that you were.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I think I know the problem, having met on my installation, my version of Windows 7 is 32 bit, and VPT8 only works on 64 bit
I installed it on a Win 10 64 bit and no problems ...
Sincerely, Alain
