Hello to all
Did clean Win10 x64 install, trying to load VPT8,
Software start Loading, 2 left windows : Preview and Projection window Opens but main window doesnt, and after 4,5 sec all goes away, No errors, nothing
Reload Windows 10, 2 times, update all drivers, Run vpt8 as Admin, same, just 2 windows and closing after 4 second?

Any idea

That´s a tricky one, and unfortunately I don´t have any clue with so little information. Maybe some other windows users have some suggestions?

Load VPT7 instead, loaded with any problems, only unailbe to see solids or video layer, I can see and move corner pins, but can't see content.
Will provide picture latter

Ran into this one too about a month ago and had to switch to VPT7 as a result.
Says 'Max (64 bit) has stopped working', and running it in compatibility mode helps nothing.
Neither does downloading the actual Max 7 program
Weirdly enough my secondary laptop is running VPT 8 (And win10 x64) just fine.

I guess it would be reasonable to assume that it is an issue with your computer/os if it works on one computer and not the other?
The main difference between VPT 7 and 8 is that VPT 8 is 64 bit and uses ffmpeg as the video engine instead of quicktime.

Identical behaviour here too. Win10/64bit. Run as admin won't help either. I'd really appreciate solutions for this bug.

Hello.

Hope this info helps to solve this problem.

I get a similar behavior here with Win8.1/64bit.

VPT8 starts Loading, then 2 left windows appear: Preview and Projection window opens but main window doesn’t, and after 4 or 5 secs all goes away, and a window with the title "Max (64-bit)" appears with the following message:

"Max (64-bit) has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Run as admin leads to the same behavior.

Thanks.

Miguel

Any update on this issue? I just downloaded VPT 8 but am having the same problem on Windows 10 64-bit. Thanks!

This should be solved by installing Quicktime.

Hi,
I just got myself a cheap windows 10 laptop, acer E5 14, and I had no problems downloading and running VPT 8 without installing anything else.
This is a machine running Windows 10 home edition and with only 4 gb of ram so I was a bit surprised that this worked.
One thing to check is the prefs file in the project folder. On windows this file sometimes ends up as one line of text instead of one line per pref item. I just opened the prefs file in a text editor and added returns/new lines after each element. Not sure if this affects VPT or not.
So the correct formatting should look like this:
fsaa 1
framerate 30
previewframerate 15
number_of_screens 1
screenratio 4:3
screendivider 0
preview_width 320
menubar 1
cursor_off 0
preview 1
fullscreen 0
autostart off 1
cuelist cuelist.txt
drawcorners 1
master 1
include_sources 1
autosource 1
xfadelocal 0
sourcebank "V V V V V V S M"

Had the same problem here.
Check the resources\extensions\jitter directory and see if you have a mxe64 file.
My windows defender was blocking all the mxe64 extensions from being copied out of the zip file.
Add an exclusion in windows defender for the extension mxe64 and then unzip the vpt8 again.

No-one has figured out what is causing this glitch then?
Don't really wabt to stay on VPT7 as its time consuming encoding all vids into quicktime.
I'll try and do a fresh install and will take it round on usb stick to as many other peoples windows macines to try and test.

But if anyones fixed this glitch could they post what they did PLEASE!

Yeah, Same problem here too..

I'm also not able to use VPT 7, because of the same issues that Dimitri said on June..
Any Ideas?
I am running the Win10 x64 install.. haven't tried to reinstall windows yet (don't want to, as most data I can't backup due to limited backup storage available...)

Same Here..
Weird.
Maybe a problem with windows defender?

On the offhand, does anybody know how to permanently disable it? (ie: uninstall it), because I already have a MUCH better antivirus installed, and it works like a charm.

Since it works on my unmodified windows 10 64 bit home edition, there isn´t much I can do about VPT8 not working on your computers unfortunately.

Same problem on Windows 10 Pro. VTP7 runs fine but does crash occasionally. Tried different directory locations on the drive, doesn't seem to be a permissions issue. I think its a video card/driver issue but I've tried drivers from 2013 all the way to 2020. I have a ATI HD 5700 video card which works fine on two monitors with 2013 and 2015 drivers. 2020 driver doesn't work with two monitors.   glstatus.mxe64 was mentioned previously... Could this a openGL issue since VTP7 uses Quicktime?

Thanks!

I have the same issue.  The windows event log states "Windows cannot access the file  for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing Windows closed the program Max (64-bit) because of this error"  but the error log does not tell you what file it is trying to access.   Its probably a fix in the registry, but I have no clue on how to find such things.
