VPT 8 and DMX module

Hello.

I'm new to VPT and just installed version 8.

I've got an Enttec DMX pro interface connected to my pc and would like to be able to control it via VPT8. The Enttec DMX pro interface is working fine since I can control it using a test program suggested by Emtec (their official tool: PRO Manager).

 

I read Appendix E, the pdf file included in the zip file but I still have some doubts:

1) In Appendix E (AppendixE_dmx-VPT7.pdf file) there is this sentence "The DMX module can either be opened from inside VPT or from MAX Runtime." How does one opens a module, like the DMX module, from inside VPT?

2) The "DMX addon for the Enttec DMX pro interface WIN" link in VPT home page (hcgilje.wordpress.com/vpt) is under the title "Older versions" which has several links about VPT7 stuff. This gives the impression that the "DMX addon for the Enttec DMX pro interface WIN" link applies to VPT 7 only, so I get the doubt if it also applies to VPT 8. Does it?

3) Inside "vpt7-DMX_WIN.zip" file there is this file "dmx_vpt7.mxf". What is it for?

These might seem really basic questions, and probably are, but I really would appreciate some help.

I just tested it with VPT8, it still works.

Hello.

I have the same setup: an Enttec DMX pro interface connected to my pc that is working fine with the test program suggested by Emtec (their official tool: PRO Manager).

I followed all steps mentioned previously, which means that VPT8 successfully opened the dmx_vpt7.mxf module. In the window opened by this module, there is a button named “look for dmx intereface”. After pressing this button, the box next to it just shows two options: “None” and “COM4” but in this computer the device manager only shows “COM1” and “COM3” so I really don’t know what is connected to COM4. Anyway, selecting “COM4” doesn’t provide any control of my dmx interface. What do you think might be the problem?
