Ghana indicates intention to join VPs at VPs Annual Plenary in Montreux

Dear Friends,

I am at the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights Annual Plenary and I am pleased to announce to you that Ghana has formally indicated its intention to join the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.

Ghana's Deputy- Minister of Lands and Natural Resources disclosed that the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have jointly done a  memo to Cabinet to get Ghanaian's Parliament's approval to join the VPs. She also disclosed that they they have forwarded a letter to the VPs Secretariat to that effect.

We have already put this information on Global Rights Twitter handle - (GlobalrightsNG). Please feel free to retweet, including all media handles, influential social media personalities and popular bloggers you know so we can get the word out in Nigeria too to encourage our government to join. You can use the hashtage #VPN when you retweet.

We need to work on getting Nigeria to do the same. Let's all work together on this.

Hello everyone,

Things are going well here in Montreux and we are hopeful for Nigeria.

I just need a quick clarification to make. I left out the @ when mentioning our twitter handle and also the hashtag for Ghana. For purposes of retweeting and comments, our twitter handle is @GlobarightsNG and the hashtag for Ghana is #VPG, while the one for Nigeria is #VPN. Since the news is about VPs in Ghana, we should use #VPG, but if there is space, we can add #VPN too because it an be the rallying point for advocacy in Nigeria.

Kindly let us retweet these to all the media handles, and other influential twitter handles and bloggers we know.
