As part of our effort in promoting corporate accountability in the Extractive sector in Nigeria, Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment- LITE Africa in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission is delighted to announce the VPs Call to Action Conference and workshop on promoting security and investment in Nigeria’s extractive sector through multi-stakeholder initiatives. This event will take place on Wednesday, February 26th 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria; time is 9am – 5pm at Newton Park Hotel in Abuja, 8 Cape Town Street, Off IBB Way, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, Nigeria.
The conference will consider the benefit of increased awareness on available multi-stakeholders initiatives such as the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, the UN Guiding principles on Business and Human Rights and develop implementation tools for companies, government agencies and civil society to fully implement the VPs in Nigeria. There will be two plenary sessions and a workshop on the VPs Implementation Guidance Tools (IGT) to be facilitated by a renowned VPs expert which would cover stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, public security providers and private security providers.
This event is open for CSOs, Companies in the extractive sector and Agencies of government directly linked with the extractives and security operations in Nigeria.
