I've just posted to the "Files" section a transcript of the Virginia
Board of Education's first "public comment" session on the Virginia
Department of Education's proposed revisions in the state's special-
education regulations. The hearing was on May 12, 2008, at Halifax
County High School in South Boston, Virginia.
You'll notice that Wyllys VanDerwerker, the president-elect of the
Virginia Council of Administrators of Special Education, reads his
organization's "talking points" almost verbatim--mistakes and all.
It's not exactly plagiarism, I guess, but I wonder what happens to
students in the Lynchburg Public Schools system (where VanDerwerker is
director of special education) who copy their book reports or term
papers almost word-for-word from a website.
