hi there,

can someone point me towards any documentation on how vpip creates
media rss feeds or anyother feeds.

i'm working with a group called transmission.cc to try to create a
different kind of feed based on atom, that will allow us to trade
video information including thumbnails etc, between different websites
.

there is someinfo on this here
http://wiki.transmission.cc/index.php/Metadata_Workspace

it's a bit teccy, but the aim is clear. We need to import feeds from
other people into our sites so they look not like a normal rss feed,
ie just a summary / link, but so the video information can be arranged
exactly how you want it.

if anyone can lead me by the hand as to how wordpress or vpip does it,
then i'll get tickering with the code to try to sort it out!

niceone!

Here's the Wordpress page on feeds:

http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds

vPIP has a custom, non-mediarss feed parsed from the Wordpress feed=rss2 feed.  It uses custom tags in HTML that vPIP generates to make unique feeds based on entry choices in vPIP.  The vPIP Feed generator is vPIPFeed.php.

thanks for that link, that's very useful.

I had a look at that php file, it seems quite involved but there's a
lot of really good stuff there. could you point me to a page which
links to some different feeds created by vPIP based on say file types,
or are there some generated by category or tags? I did a bit of
googling but couldn't find anything easily.

We are working on drupal customisation for our custom feed, but no one
in our network really has much experience coding wordpress. We do have
some funding to implement that standard, is it something that anyone
developing vPIP might be interested in doing? If so please email me
for more details.
