hey fellow vpip-ers

this is the second instance this weekend
that someone is baffled by the vpip share code

"There is a great video with Diane from the folks at RyanIsHungry…but I cannot decode the code for getting it into this post"
from
http://www.myninjaplease.com/green/?p=1321

i'm thinking it's because you have to enter it into the html editor
rather than the rich text one
and most bloggers use the rich text one and don't think about the html version.

does youtube work with both?
how can we solve this?
can we shorten the code to make it less intimidating?
i know there is a lot to share, so that's why it's so long
but is there a way to tiny url it or something equivilent?

just curious.

As a non-coder, I would offer this solution - not knowing anything at
all, but - how about adding a line so that when a person clicks the
"share" or "embed" button - not only does the box of code pop up, but
also a line - at the top of the box (maybe right above the box) that
says - "When you paste this in your page, remember to use plain HTML -
not the rich text editor"

Hmmm....that sounds clunky too, but it seems like it would be the
easiest way to solve the issue.

that's a good idea milt.

some people are ok with it, see this post
http://articles.greenlinkcentral.com/?p=5842

but when i click on the videos, it doesnt work like on my site.
QT opens another window, same with flash (i didnt try OGG).

now why would that be happening?

I've never had a problem with the code but people trying to share my
videos have. Actually, my main sponsor seems so terrified of my
"share" button that they continue to go back to blip and use whatever
random code they can find that day. i think in the last post they
actually just embeded a screenshot that linked to the blip page.
arrg.

if a simpler code could happen, that would be awesome!
another suggestion i have based on the fact that my videos are larger
than most blog's columns is maybe a check box for a scaled video, so
people don't have to tinker with the code.

I'll see what I can do about this -- as time permits.
