The aim of this project is to add all popular Bangla typing methods from Bangladesh and India in a single interface. Current release supports English to Bangla Phonetic typing support for home users, Mouse Based Bangla typing support for newbies and for professionals Traditional Keyboard Layout based Bangla typing support. Keyboard layouts those are added with the current release are -
- Probhat.
- Munir Optima.
- Avro Easy - An easy to learn keyboard layout from OmicronLab.
- Bornona - The easiest Bangla keyboard layout we have found yet! From "The Safeworks".
- National (Jatiya) - Standard Bangla Keyboard Layout in Bangladesh designed by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).
Avro Keyboard supports multiple keyboard layouts. And all the layouts are easily accessible from keyboard layout menu. Currently supported keyboard layouts are:

Avro Keyboard works as a system level keyboard interface. You can type Bangla anywhere with all typing methods (English to Bangla phonetic typing, keyboard layout based typing, mouse based typing) supported by Avro Keyboard.
Avro Keyboard offers much flexible user interface for even novice computer users. It is much better than Windows Input Locale as there is no necessary to edit your system language from control panel. Users can use Avro Keyboard and any other keyboard in any language defined in control panel simultaneously. It is possible to use Hindi, US English, UK English, Japanese, French etc. any language as system language and Avro Keyboard to use Bangla/Bengali. You can use "Single Key Mode Switching" by using any one key from F1 to F12 to switch between Bangla keyboard mode and System Keyboard mode.There is also Ctrl+Spcae key combination option. Use what you like.
This is a must have feature for any virtual keyboard interface like Avro keyboard. But all including Microsoft seem to overlook it. With this handy tool, users can see the actual image of the current keyboard layout anytime they need. Now there is no need to print or draw a keyboard layout and attach it on your computer table. This keyboard layout viewer is totally flexible, you can use Zoom-in and Zoom-out for better viewing purpose. My Avro keyboard had some problems. So at first I uninstalled the program and again installed it. But while installing it had shown that "Run anyway", yet ran it and installed it. Now it is installed, but the desktop icon had shown it as 'Shortcut'. Moreover, when I am clicking the icon it has shown the message, "Failed to set data for layout display name". So I decide again to uninstall followed by install. This it has shown that "This program is currently running, so it is not possible to uninstall". In fact, I am confused. I am naive with the computers. Please help to me how to fix my Avro keyboard program in my computer.
first of all click right button to the avro icon. go to properties. click compatibility. then click "Run this program as an administrator". & last of all click apply.

To enquire, I checked to keyboard layout of Avro Phonetic. Surprisingly avro's keyboard layout is identical to English(US)! I then manually downloaded the avro fonts and copied them to /usr/share/fonts/truetype and restarted my PC. The result is same. Now what can I do to write Bangla with Avro?
