A ONG norte-americana Verified Voting acaba de lançar a campanha "To Zero by 2020" para que na eleição presidencial de 2020 nos EUA não exista mais nenhuma urna eletrônica SEM VOTO IMPRESSO CONFERÍVEL PELO ELEITOR.  Que dor de cotovelo!

Why are the passwords we create for our coffee apps are more secure than our voting machines?
Dear Supporters,

Between 8 and 25 characters.
At least one number;
...one capital letter;
...one lowercase letter.
And at least one special character, like an exclamation point or a comma.

These are the requirements when creating a password for a new Starbucks account — simple instructions for developing a barrier between hackers and… your coffee.

Which begs the question: Why are standards so much higher for our coffee apps than our voting machines?

Motherboard reports that voting machine manufacturers are instructing election officials to use — and re-use — “trivial, easy to crack passwords” when changing credentials according to EAC guidelines.

Weak password protocols are just a symptom of the lack of security infrastructure surrounding our elections and emblematic of the many reasons the Verified Voting team is working to get America To Zero By 2020 — zero voting machines without voter-marked paper ballots by the next presidential election.
We're working hard to get America To Zero by 2020... but we need your help.
To build confidence in our democratic institutions, we need to secure the election pipeline by embedding security every step of the way: from voter registration to election day, tabulation to audits, and beyond.

Help us get America To Zero By 2020 by contributing today. Because our democracy — not just our coffee — depends on confidence and security.

Sincerely,

The Verified Voting Team

Atenciosamente,
Augusto
