California is generally viewed as a voter-friendly state. But in Orange County, in the City of Huntington Beach, there is still some heavily Trump-heavy activity. Most notably, the Huntington Beach City Council has placed a Voter ID measure on the March Primary Ballot. We think that violates the State Constitution (we are focusing on the state, since the California Supreme Court tends to be more protective of rights than the US Supreme Court these days), as well as California state law.
We have filed a petition for writ of mandate to have the matter removed from the ballot. I would welcome anyone's input on this case and. especially if you are in California, your participation if you are interested. We are handling this pro bono, but there are opportunities for attorneys' fees under the private attorney general statutes, if we win.
And if you are affiliated with an organization that might be interested in serving as an amicus, would love your support.
