Duties
As the Attorney-Adviser (General) in this position, you will serve as a legal advisor to Dara Lindenbaum, who will be sworn in as a Democratic Commissioner. You will analyze and advise on highly complex legal issues, questions, and administrative policy involved in the Federal Election Campaign Act, amendments to regulations, new regulations, various legal advisories, Commission policies, and official FEC publications.

Specifically, you will:
  • Prepare synopses and analyses of agenda items and advise the Commissioner on matters pending before the Commission.
  • Manage and implement the formulation of Commission policies and operating procedures; handle confidential compliance and internal personnel matters for the Commissioner.
  • Plan and manage the work, public inquiries, and official commitments for the Commissioner.
  • Provide policy guidance on extremely complex and difficult FEC operations.
  • Evaluate and interpret the Commission's legal documents for accuracy, legal consistency, clarity, organization, and procedural correctness.
  • Direct commission staff on various key/major projects and special studies of substantial scope.
  • Plan and conduct extremely complex studies on the laws, regulations, policies, programs, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioner on extremely complex and difficult legal research and policy assignments, affecting the operations of the FEC.
  • Draft speeches, presentations, regulations, changes in the Federal Election Campaign Act, or modifications to opinions written by the Commission and sent out for public comment.
