Dear Friends,

A time to make decision and to make change!

If you want,

·       Educated, transparent, accountable and ‘clean’- non-corrupt people should be leading our country,

·       Interests of marginalized and economically poor people to be considered

·       People in our country should not die because of hunger, poor health facilities, riots and failure of crops,

·       We should have Transparent, Just, and Accountable Governance,

·       Development should be equal across all layers of the society,

·       We should have more secure country – fearless life,

·       Our country should have stronger position in international communities and Globalization

Kindly, send this message to all your friends, colleagues, and family members.

Vote for Communist Party!

Dear Shreepati,
I have been recieving mails from the from this group mail and I really appreciate
the effort taken by some people to take up this campaign for the left parties in India.
I have myself been associalted with left parties and wish them to get more seats in Lok Sabha elections.

I presently work in Maharashtra and home town is Hazaribagh, in Jharkhand
which is Lok Sabha constituency led by Communist Party of India.

However, I am writing this mail to assure that in the upcoming election
I WILL NOT VOTE FOR CPI.
The Hazaribagh constituency is led by CPI leader Bhuneshwar Prasad Mehta.
Com. Mehta has won from Hazaribagh before also and this is his second tenure in power.

I wish to inform the party leadership that Bhuneshwar Prasad Mehta is the most
non-performing, and ineffective leader Hazaribagh has ever tolerated. Our Comrade
is fully disconnected with the people, never reaches out to the problem,
and he is the last person on earth any person from hazaribagh would think of in the need of hour.
He is a sitting M.P in a literal sense. He sits and eats and does no work.
Nor has he done anything to expand the party mass base.
in fact the party under his leadership hardly resemebles to any think that left stands for.
A bad speaker, an uninspiring fat slow dull politician, who is seen only in marriage parties of other
politicians.

with all sympathies to the left, I refuse to look up to such a man as my leader.
I will not vote for Bhuneshwar Prasad mehta, and i will convince all friends and relatives
to vote against CPI. We cannot continue to vote for CPI because it is a lesser evil and BJP is a bigger evil.
I cannot continue to supprt such a degenerated leadership.

lal salam

Zia,
It was quite a disappointing mail from you, rather unexpected. I know one Zia from TISS, i dont know wheather you are that one or someone else. We met in Janshakti, mumbai along with some of his frnds. anyways,,,thats not an issue.

I am not saying there are no problems.. there are 'n' number of problems. what would be an answer to those problems? telling your frnds and families not to vote for CPI? certainly not...

whom will you support then? JMM? RJD? BSP? SP? or BJP and Congress?

By telling not to vote for CPI you are supporting these parties. Is it your aim? and are you so confident that the any other candidate who will win, apart from CPI will be the most efficient MP of all times?

In mumbai, Shivsena corporators sometimes do help common "mumbaikars" ..does that mean we should vote them dependin on the "CHARITY" work they do? or should we vote according to parties and policies??

I would go for 2nd option. There are flaws. but by voting  against left, we are not only weakening the left unity but even helping the communal and feudal forces. And especially in these elections, where each and every vote is crucial for left front such kinf of behaviour is intolerable, and that too from left sympethiser is a real tradgedy.

So who is the best candidate according to you? you havent mentioned it in mail, hence asking you. or would you be taking the side of naxalites now, who went on rampage killing innocent, poor indians just because they fearlessly came out and casted their vote?

Please take a stand, either for left or against them. you cannot say i support left politics but i wont vote to CPI or CPM.

alok.

Zia,

It is very heartening to see that you have such high standards for measuring the performance of the election candidates. Especially for the Left candidates. I being part of the Left think this will enrich us as a progressive political force and we'll serve the interests of the people better.

Now, at this point I also hope that you maintain such high standards of judgment for other parties too.

Let's take the BJP for example. Do they pass through in their track record of performance? In spite of having a multitude of MPs who never visited their constituency even once after getting elected they call themselves committed to development. They sold off all PSUs they could lay their hands on inspite of them being some of the most profitable ones in the global business, so does the BJP pass the test of good performance? The Modi government and his notorious cohorts saved cows and slaughtered humans in many parts of the country. Do they pass your test of secularism and freedom? They are actually the ones who initiated the nuclear deal and the first allignment with the US. Do they pass your test of resolute patriotism (swadeshi is what they call it) with this servitude? Alok wrote in this mail thread some mails earlier that you are from TISS. Assuming you are, do you know that there was a report called the Birla-Ambani Report on Higher Education in India that was drawn up by Kumarmangalam Birla and Mukesh Ambani. It called for an end to government spending in education as it was a 'unimportant'. The report said technical education in the affordable spectrum should be only limited to technical training that will generate skilled labour for industries in the surrounding geographical areas. As for the social sciences, like the ones taight at TISS, the report was of the firm opinion that such 'fancy', 'unproductive' and 'useless' education should be done away with as 'it serves no purpose for business'! If that wasn't shockng enough, the BJP government, elected to be the guardians of India's future, had decided to adopt this report as the guiding light for their education policy!! These apart from the Petrol Pump, Land Allotment and other monetary scams. Their interference in text books and archeological survey of india and the council for history etc are well documented. I wonder if inspite of all these major lapses in governance you still find them fit enough to be voted to power...I hope not. At east going by your high standards I think not.

Now the Congress. The Grand Old Party of India and the architect of it's history of corruption. Do they pass your test of integrity and excellent governance? Food, oil, cooking gas is at an all time high. 70% of the people have a daily income of Rs 20 and below. Only a handful have access to toilets and piped water. Electricity is something people see only in news paper articles which mention it's name when they say "electricity is in short supply". When the country was going hungry the Prime Minister was whispering sweet nothings into the ears of Bush (I'm sure you have seen that snap). He even professed love to Bush on your behalf ! So the question to a voter as discerning as yourself now is, does the Congress pass your test of performance?

Coming to the Maoists, the one's with guns you know. Out to liberate all and kill the class enemies...or may be the other way round!...never mind they'll justify what they do either which way. Now they have been in control of some pockets in the country since 1967, that's a whopping 42 years! Now going by your high standards of performance how do you think they measure up? For all their claims of the others, especially the Left, having done nothing, how much have they done? Are those remote tribal pockets heavens of growth and progress? Or are they gropping in darkness and dying of thirst owing to the electricity lines and water ducts their liberators have uprooted and broken? Are those places highly advanced with their gureilla governments ensuring free food and water like in a truly socialist nations as they say? Or is it that those places have the lowest human development indices in India and the world? Is it that those places are little spheres of peace and tranquility as the "people's army" takes care of the place? Or is it that the 'liberated' tribals themselves are dying in the crossifre of Maoists Vs Police? Given these and many such snapshots of the Maoist's performance, I once again ask you, do they pass your test?

So Zia, as I started so I'll end, it is heartening to know that the Indian voter, assuming you will vote and hence be an Indian voter, has become so discerning in his choice. However what remains to be seen is if highly educated individuals such as yourself, use similarly stringent criteria to judge the non-Left as with the Left.

good luck
sid
