We’re still evaluating legislation for next year. I’ll keep you updated if we decided to reintroduce this policy.

Subject: AB-423 and AutismHi Shanna,
I am a neighboring candidate interested in helping AB 423 pass. I have minor concerns with the bill language, and would like to connect with you to discuss.
Some points:
- wandering is not a diagnostic criteria of autism. It meets the clinical definition of PTSD
- an autistic family member who is engaging with first responders should be referred to the Regional Center, not transported to psychiatric hospitals.
- Less than 20% of autistic people have a cognitive impairment.
- wandering is not an indication of a cognitive impairment.
I am an autistic person who wants to bring neurodiversity into legislation. Please recommend a meeting time.--
Sincerely,Dr. Henny Kupferstein (she/her)
