Happy Aloha Friday,
Today is the big day and on behalf of the Kinney campaign, I thank you for your support.
Regardless of the election results tonight, Nathaniel Kinney and I already feel that our campaign is a winner. In such a short amount of time we have accomplished a lot.
When Nathaniel first filed his papers to run at City Hall, he had no name recognition. That has all changed in a few short weeks. In todayʻs Honolulu Star Bulletin reporter BJ Reyes wrote, "Three candidates have emerged as front-runners...." Nathaniel was named as one of the three front-runners. In todayʻs Honolulu Advertiser, Gordon Pang described Nathaniel as among three candidates with "visible campaigns." The other two candidates being career politicians with a lot of name recognition. When I accompanied Nathaniel at Bon Dance events, people knew he was and would take notice of him. Once, when we walked to our cars, someone yelled out to us, "I voted for you!"
People like what our campaign is doing. Early in the campaign we noticed that a few websites were looking similar to www.VoteForKinney.com and adopted several elements of our campaign strategies. We had a lot of support from people who came out to sign-wave and go door-to-door. With the 2010 elections coming up next year, people working for campaigns for other races have informed us that they plan on using our ideas to campaign.
Political insiders and lawmakers have also shared that they are impressed with how the campaign has operated, especially considering that Nathaniel is often described as a newcomer. One local political consultant shared with me that, "the Nathaniel Kinney campaign is one of those campaigns that politicians will talk about for a long time, because what you guys have accomplished in a short amount of time is very impressive."
We thank you for your continued support. Again, regardless of the votes, we already feel like winners and that is largely due in part to you and your support. Please feel free to join us this evening at 2240 Young Street at 5:30 as we prepare for the election results.
We hope you have a great weekend. Mahalo
