Hi,

I have been trying to install VoSeq in a Mac OS X 10.6 but whenever I go to the web browser and type "http://localhost/~YourName/VoSeq" I do not get any config script, but instead I am redirected to the contents of the file carlosp420-VoSeq-ba896f7 as you can see from the picture that I am sending in attachment.
If I understood correctly, I need to share the file Sites and inside this file I have to create a file called VoSeq and place there the file carlosp420-VoSeq-ba896f7, correct?

Also, when I start the MySQL server I get the message "Starting MySQL database server", so I suppose its running fine.

I have also done all the changes to the Apache’s configuration text file.

Could you tell me what's wrong?

Cheers

Catarina

Hi Catarina,

Please make sure that you download the VoSeq package from the list of old releases here: https://github.com/carlosp420/VoSeq/releases

actually "carlosp420-VoSeq-ba896f7" is a folder where all the files for VoSeq are kept. What you can do is to move all the files and folders to the VoSeq folder, and then remove the empty folder "carlosp420-VoSeq-ba896f7".

Then, when you open your web browser to http://localhost/~YourName/VoSeq you should be able to see the installation interface of Voseq.

hope this help, let me know otherwise,

carlos

Hi Carlos,

Thank you! I was now able to to go to the installation interface, but I got the error 2002 and tried to do the recommended steps. However, I found the following issues and was not able to get a connection to MySQL:
1- I do not have a file called "php.ini-development" but instead is called "php.ini.default". I do not know if it is the same or not.
2- I do not have the folder /usr/local/lib/ but instead /usr/local/ or /usr/lib/.
3- When checking for the parameters of the file "my-large.cnf" I realized they were already as socket = /tmp/mysql.sock. I saved this file as "my.cnf" and added it to the folders /etc/ and /etc/mysql.

After all this I still get the same error.

Also, when I start the installation interface I get the message that the file "conf.php" does not exist and later that the MySQL is not installed, although it is. I'm sending you the images in attachment so  you can see what I'm talking about. Maybe this VoSeq is simply not compatible with OSX 10.6...

Cheers,

Catarina

Yes, please try to use the file php.ini.default instead and copy. It should have the same info as the php.ini-development.

Let me know if you still get error messages.

The installation steps gather all the information needed to create the file conf.php, so it is normal that you don't have it at this point.

The other screenshot is trying to tell that a MySQL database installation is needed. It is not warning you that you don't have such a database as the script it is not checking that at that point.
Sorry that message is confusing.
