Migrate to Java 8 runtime by January 16, 2019.
Google Cloud Platform
MY CONSOLE

Dear App Engine developer,

We're writing to let you know that the Java 7 runtime is deprecated as of December 13, 2017 in favor of the generally available Java 8 runtime. In accordance with the Google Cloud Platform deprecation policy, you will be able to migrate your projects off the Java 7 runtime over the next 12 months prior to the shutdown date of January 16, 2019. For more information, see the Java 7 runtime deprecation page.

Please note the following incompatibilities between the Java 7 and Java 8 runtimes:

For a full list of Java 7 and Java 8 incompatibilities, please see this guide.

The Java 8 runtime has a number of benefits compared to earlier versions of Java on App Engine Standard, such as the removal of the Class Whitelist, availability of all public JDK APIs, and ability to use java.io.File, threads, and any Java libraries.

For complete migration instructions and a list of key differences between App Engine Java 7 and Java 8 runtimes, which are based on the OpenJDK 7 and OpenJDK 8 runtimes respectively, please see our Java 8 migration page.

Your projects listed below have been identified as using the Java 7 runtime:

Hey,

I don't think as java should stay compatible with java in prior version.

On my side I was pretty confident

I'm more worried about the export functionnality which doesn't work for my site which has increased a bit.
I have an OutOfMemory error

Actually vosao is built with a 1.6 version and if google cloud app engine passes from 1.7 to 1.8, i don't think that the 1.0 vosao version will have trouble.

as it doesn't use the endpoints for example (see your email above).

One thing is that I had to use the latest app engine (1.9.59) to upload the latest vosao version because the 1.8.1 no longer works as tool to make the uploads on your cloud.

But this is the only new constraint.

Hey there,

Anybody knows if we are obliged to use a recent app engine now to do the uploads of the app ?

Actually I've tried again and it works with 1.8.1

You just have to use the good auth option when uploading :

I used --oauth2 option like :

.\appengine-java-sdk-1.8.1\bin\appcfg.cmd  --no_cookies --oauth2 update .\vosao\vosaocms

I'm going to remove my 1.9.59 duplicate version !
