Iam having the same problem. I added several models (which I was in the middle of designing) over the last couple of days and when I tried to access them today they were not showing up. I have made sure i was using Trimble connect to look for them. The only model that is showing up is the one I saved today.

SketchUp Pro - System Requirements Like many computer programs, SketchUp requires certain hardware and software specifications in order to install and run. These are basic requirements, though, so you may want to use our recommended suggestions to...

These low-end Quadro cards are slow and practically useless - meant for 2D AutoCad work.

High-end Quadro cards are a waste of money, high-end GeForce cards are more powerful and less expensive. There is no benefit of using quadros for SketchUp.

Depends on how much you have in the budget, the better the computer, in general the better it will run SketchUp. Main learnings after using lots of combinations is try to run GTX over Quardo, no benefit really especially for the price point as @Anssi says.

My best advice after trying so many things over 10 years (and now being lucky enough that my new job has awesome computers!) Is to go for the cloud route. Have a good machine to make your model, assemble and make a medium resolution proof then send it all to the cloud for rendering.

Even on my work machine (below) I have some issues with larger files so I usually create a master template in SketchUp and then assemble a final model inside the render engine (who 9 times out of 10 handle large* models better than SketchUp).

SketchUp runs well and I can take in fairly large models of between 300-700MB. Rendering is good I can do a 10k frame (average across multiple GPU render engines) in about 1h-11h depending on its complexity. 1080HD is about 10-30mins per frame.

SketchUp runs exceptionally better, for some reason I still have issues when loading large files (+1GB) but the difference is once they have loaded they perform much quicker. Rendering times are greatly improved, as above times come down to seonds-2 mins for 1080HD.

You will get to the point however, when SketchUp is not going to get (noticeably) better without a lot of hardware upgrades. You will instead see an improvement in rendering, and then again depending on the budget you have a few options:

Most bang for the buck is using a cloud service such as Amazon or a specific rendering company and just send them the files. If you are doing serious rendering then you may want to build a render farm but you have to weigh that up against how much work you have and how quick you need to do it (also factor in cooling costs and running costs).

In work I have the machine above that lets me do still renders at 10k, animation tests at 720p and generally do all my proofing. I then have a render farm for full frame animation at 4k. If I did not have that then I would just use a cloud service.

Your models also have to be well built and optimised in order to sell and you need to cover a few industry standard file formats not just .skp. You can use SketchUp and (Blender/Rhino/Modo etc) in order to make a model then clean it up in various file types.

Hi, I am looking for someone to produce Sketchup models of either new houses or extensions. What would you charge for this service? It would be ongoing but not continuous at the beginning. I would supply the drawings. How long would it take you to do this? Thanks. MikeJoyce.

Having just had a look now, yes you can use collections in the 3d warehouse in the same way in the web version.

I was able to browse to My Collections and download one of my components directly into the model.

So the answer is yes to both the free and paid web versions also have this ability.

I was asking about a way to create links to components that are defined elsewhere, such that you only maintain one master definition of the model/component, but can have many instances of it in other models.

As the OP in this thread I am still struggling with doing this. I cannot find things, or cannot get things to work.

I can copy and paste into a new, blank model. No problem. However I cannot copy and paste from one model to another if the target model already has something in it. The options in the right mouse pop up window are all greyed out, and Cntrl V does not work.

I have never had an issue like this before, or at least not one that has persisted. I have used enscape on this computer before with no issue, but its been a few weeks. I ran the program installer to repair it to see if that helped, restarted, etc. I could see it being an issue with the speed of the computer (I don't have a video card either), except that I worked on this exact model on this computer before my vacation. I've tried opening a variety of models.

My secondary issue is when I use enscape on my office computer, it is constantly crashing. I know that video card drivers have to be up to date (office computer does have one), but even when it is I am constantly getting this error. I feel like I am wasting hours of every work day just troubleshooting enscape at this point, it is very frustrating.

I'm afraid, even though the model may have been displayed properly in Enscape before we really cannot guarantee that there won't be any issues if there is no GPU built into your machine. The system requirements will have to be met in this case. I fully understand that this isn't ideal for you especially since you've been working without a graphics card for a while, but we can unfortunately not offer any official support for Intel/AMD onboard graphics.

Furthermore, whenever you experience any crashing on a machine that does meet our requirements, kindly send in a dedicated feedback report with your log files and our support team will assist you further in no-time. Crashes can occur due to multiple causes so said log files usually tell us more to help our users. Thank you in advance! If any other questions or concerns come up regarding this or any other topic let me know.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Though, the last reply my colleague "Carl Freier" sent you was on the 20th of September, asking you to please update your Enscape as you were using an outdated version. To that, we received an automatic out-of-office response but no other reply or feedback. I am sorry about the confusion in this case.

Just to make sure, even though you state that you've re-installed Enscape multiple times, are you still already making use of Enscape 3.4.2 instead of 3.3.1? (which was the last version we saw in the previous feedback report of yours.)

Hello!

For a project I want to convert some objects to custom assets for Enscape but I was actually quite surprised it doesn't support importing .skp files.

Because I want to keep the polycount a bit reasonable I use Skimp or Transmutr to create a lower quality model which is than a .skp file. Or, I download a model from 3D Warehouse which I like to convert as a Enscape custom asset.

Maybe I've a bit troubled way of working but it's quite odd a Sketchup plugin doesn't support a Sketchup model for import while the output of the custom assets are models which can be placed in Sketchup. It doesn't really make sense if I need to convert my skp to obj and have to import it for the custom assets so I can use it in Sketchup again.

Maybe I'm overlooking a feature, if so, I'd love to hear more about it

I'd appreciate it if you could also forward your feedback to product management in form of a feature request. I reckon you are aware of this already, but meanwhile you can of course also make use of the proxy functionality (linked model) too add these .skp files into the scene. This function is also used to import .skp files of higher polygon count into Enscape while not slowing SketchUp itself down.

Thanks Demian Gutberlet and I will make it a request, just wasn't sure if I might overlooked some functionality.

I indeed used the proxy functionality to link those but than I ran into the issue that V-Ray doesn't render those linked models yet. I'm also active at the Chaos group's forum and had just a replay on my thread there about the linked proxies (V-Ray not rendering Enscape custom assets - Chaos Forums).

I'm also aware the Enscape > V-Ray is a new thing but it's nice to play with while not working against a nasty deadline

Hi everyone !

I have tried Enscape 2.2.3 and i really love the potential of it. I have a target to create standalone or video walkthrough for my clients to experience their future building. By that, i have to model everything fully, so it make the file huge (for example, a complete 2 stories townhouse is app 900mb). And the importing took too long, like 6 - 8 hours, sometimes it didnt work too.

Can i have any suggestion on how to reduce the time importing, like seperate objects, because i have tried import enscape first, turned off live update but it still slow me down everytime i try to change something in the model. Thanks alot !

Sounds like an incredibly complex, slow performing townhouse. You may want to consider separating the ground floor from the first and saving each as different models. Essentially becoming two individual models and two separate walkthroughs, cutting the project size in half, or near there hopefully. To be honest, I've never heard of or seen a model this heavy, at least when compared to the volumetric size of an average double story townhouse. The largest model I've ever worked on was around 1.4gb consolidated, was never edited as a singular model and had 85 storeys at 200,000 sqfpf. Do you mean 90 mb?
