Hi.
I  have order the analogic PAD for the Game PAd but until now i  nerver get it!! :(
Then i have created a simply Android GamePad with MIT App Inevntor 2.
This first version is almost a prototype version but it provide access to all functions Walk, Dance and Fight. For the moment the Record/play  functions  are not implemented... but it's enough to use the hexapod. And if we have several Hexapo no need to make all the gamepads.
If someone is interested i can publish this projet in Mit App Inventor Gallery

Hello,

Just to be clear, you didn't order it from the Vorpal store, did you? Because i don't see any order from someone with your name. We usually ship within 1 business day.

But anyway, this is very cool and I would love to try it out!  We realize that we do need an app and this is something we are planning for the first quarter of 2018. But your app inventor version would be a useful interim solution!

Note that record/play will be far more difficult to implement than the leg motions. The storage actually occurs on the gamepad itself and you need to maintain a finite state machine with recording state and handle a whole slew of edge cases. Basically you have to store everything you send to the robot and replay it with 100 millisecond delays between data frames.

But the cool thing about an app is, it would be possible to give recordings names and have more than one recording at a time.  There isn't any easy way to do that on the physical gamepad.  You could also have a "scrub bar" that shows current position in recording and lets you drag back and forth to choose playback position.

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, you're absolutely right i ordered the A-PAD from a ebay store because it's almost the only item i needed to make a Hexapod (i'm a rc hobbyist w 3d printer cnc etc..).
Ok i try to finish a "clean" a little more sophisticated version of the Android Game pad and i let you know when i'll publish it on MIT App Gallery.

Hi

I have published a very first version (Vorpal GamePad) in Mit App INventor Gallery .... Let me know if it works (first you have to bind your Hexapod's BT HC05 with your  android device and after, in the application, you  have to open the BT conexion with the HC05)

To try the Buzzer Command i programmed a small buzz with rear button...

For the next version i'll try to implement several recording name and some more upgrades. For example text on butons will change acording  to selected mode (W,D F)  and sub mode (1,2,3,4)

Thanks

Wow, I had no idea this programming environment existed. I know next to nothing about Android but I was easily able to install your app on a spare phone and run it. Works great! Thanks!

I finaly terminated the game pad and it's really better to drive the Hexapod because we don't need to look at the screen to find the button!! ;).

But i thing it's a good idea to improve the android gamepad to provide sofisticated record feature (and more! )

Thanks.
