I was wondering if there is anyway to have the bluray autoplay with VLC with a little hacks.I'm sure something could be done to get vlc to automatically execute a command line or what so ever to simulate the steps, when a bluray has been inserted.
This is not an autoplay solution, but you can do something to make opening Blu Rays on VLC a bit easier. Create a VLC shortcut on Windows with the second parameter pointing to your Blu Ray drive. Double clicking the shortcut should automatically start the movie.

Remember that you need the quotes if you have spaces in the path, which you probably have because of "Program Files". That bluray protocol is undocumented in the VLC Command Line help, but it should work. Replace the drive letter (in my case d:) with whatever letter you have as the Blu Ray drive.
To play Blu-ray with VLC on Windows, besides upgrading to VLC 3.0 or greater, you'll need to download the VLC Windows 64bit version if you're suing a 64bit Windows computer. Moreover, it would be better to keep the default installation path while installing VLC.To play Blu-ray with VLC more smoothly, you can use DumboFab to digitize your Blu-rays to MP4, MKV. It would be easier to play.
I have just purchased an Hitachi LG-BH16NS40 bluray drive which came mounted in an external USB3 caddy (a Vantec 5.25 inch enclosure). I can't get Ubuntu to mount any discs that I insert into the drive.
So the drive is being recognised by the OS. However, when I insert a DVD disc into the drive, the disk is not mounted. The blue activity light on the caddy flashes continuously and the disc is never made available.
I have tried connecting the drive and enclosure to a laptop running Windows 10. Here, the device functions as expected and the same disk mounts straight away upon insertion. The blue activity light on the caddy flashes twice and then goes solid, as I understand is intended.
There also is makemkv which when installed can rip the bluray disk to an mkv file after which almost any video player can play it. Of course your drive on the PC must be bluray as well to read the disk.
It would be useful to have that script, or at least the source of the keys. I already have both those libraries installed (libaacs is from rpmfusion, libbluray from fedora) but do not have the needed keys to play the disks.
My grandsons console was run over (true) opened everything up and only damage is the ribbon at front of console (easy repair)a very distorted case and smashed optical drive. Console boots up fine and responds as expected, because the case is so distorted I can't install a replacement optical drive, my question is can an external blu ray drive be used or a generic drive placed in the case if the damaged metal was removed and the case modified to suit.
The main problem you are going to run into with anything like this that you try is that the blu ray drive that came in the unit from the factory is married to the motherboard. There is a PCB that is inside the blu ray drive that must stay with the motherboard. This means that you can replace the optical drive with an identical one but you must also switch the PCB on the new drive with the one that is matched to the motherboard.
Ok. One more question.I am not good at soldering so I was thinking when I remove the old board I would leave as much of the two soldered cables as possible and splice/patch the cables rather try to solder the boards. Any thoughts on this.
perrypk...YES you are right...I totally got this question confused with another one that I was answering reguarding a PS4 optical drive...those are located on the top of the optical drive. You are correct though in stating that the board for the Xbox One is inside the drive itself! Sorry for anyone who was confused by my comment!
interesting info so if the xbox drive is married to the motherboard and there is an electronic fault with the drive like mine there is no point in swapping the board over to a new drive they dont state this on amazon does this mean all of those drives on amazon are useless and wont work i was thinking of external usb player but it looks like they have taken care of that idea and that wont work either i am now thinking of putting a bluray player in my computer to copy the game files to a flash drive i bet i cant lastly where and how would you get a married to the motherboard replacement bluray player ALF CRUNCHBUCKET
When you order a full replacement kit it comes with a motherboard as well. The optical laser kit only comes with the laser itself. So in other words make sure you're shopping for the right thing. If you suspect it is the optional PCB buy the full kit including a married Xbox One mother board with Blu Ray replacement repair kit. If you're looking for the drive itself it's why information is so limited if you're searching in that context, instead search: "Xbox One optical full repair kit" + motherboard. For example. You might also have a mechanical problem you'd do well to also search: Xbox One optical drive correct vs incorrect lever/laser placement. There's quite a bit that needs to be just right in this drive to function right. Also will show how to clean rollers and surfaces.
We had sky stream installed today, and during the set up process we noticed the sky stream remote is controlling our samsung bluray player. When you press the home or return button it opens and closes the drawer. Is there any way of preventing this?
@CorradoE this has been reported in the past as coincidentally both devices use an over lapping infra red control set. If you programme the Sky remotecto use bluetooth by pairing it with the puck it should stop.
