Welcome to "East Tennessee Metal Hobbies" group. This is a group
for DIY folks who enjoy building their own CNC machines (Wood, Metal,
other), Model makers, fabricators, welders, casters, etc.
Basically, if you like to build your own stuff, your welcome here.
We
may set up swap meet tables also for attendants/vendors.
I will announce meetings and or seminars initially here:
https://sites.google.com/site/volunteerfablab/upcoming-seminars
The hope is this:
To set meetings at a place in or around Knoxville, TN, Bi-monthly,
Tri-monthly, or monthly depending on interest. The plan would be to
put on a class(s) on some topic(s), of interest, Q&A, networking,
helping each other, and general camaraderie. So, if there is a topic
you would like to teach, want taught, show off your work or machine
(and talk about it), etc. speak up.
Ultimately the goal would be to get to the following on some Saturday
(2cd, 3rd or 4th of a month):
1). Get/find a space big enough, with power, seating, space for
tables, etc. to set up machines, models, etc., for demo/teaching.
2). Host "Swap Meets" for members.
3). Get large enough for "OEM Vendors" to want to come in and demo
products of interest.
4). Educate our membership on how to "DIY".
5). Joint meetings or guest of other areas, or states DIY groups.
6). Invite local High School or College students that have interest
in
these areas.
7). Appoint a membership committee, for running this thing
efficiently
and professionally, so the meetings run smooth, we could plan things,
etc.
Anyone is invited to this who has interest in these areas, or wants
to
find out out about it.
Oh, forgot to mention, if your interested in this, email me or post
on
the Fab-Lab website, if your interested in this, if we can get maybe
4-8+ people we could set up a time for a inaugural meeting.
Here is my email, replace the "(at)" with"@".
