Gulf County Horseshoe Crab Monitoring - FWC - (Ongoing)
 
             - FWC is seeking volunteers to check shoreline transects around St. Joe Bay for nesting horseshoe crabs during expected peak nesting periods.

Growing & Harvesting in a Food Forest - Alō Bay - (Ongoing)
 
              - Alō Bay is seeking volunteers that are interested in learning about permaculture and its uses to help out at the Community Food Forest located in Millville. Volunteers may help weed, plant, prune, check on the beehives, and help the composting system. 
               - Dates: Mondays from 4pm-6pm

Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail Site Visits - FWC (Ongoing)
Call for volunteers!

  • The FWC is looking for interested members of the public to help maintain high quality birding opportunities in the state by conducting site visits to locations on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. The Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail is made up of over 500 sites around Florida that have been recognized as excellent places to go birding and wildlife viewing. The Trail is an important service that encourages conservation through eco-tourism.By visiting Trail sites and filling out a quality assurance survey, volunteers help FWC ensure the Trail remains one of the best resources around to meaningfully connect people to nature and build support for conservation.
  • What: Help maintain high quality birding opportunities in the state by conducting site visits on the Great Florida Birding Trail
  • When: Online Training: Email for schedule
  • Site Visits: Date and time determined by volunteers. Site visits to be conducted before June 1st 2024
  • Where: Great Florida Birding Trail sites in the Florida panhandle.
  • Preparations: Volunteers should be prepared to work in typical Florida outdoor conditions, as well as to manage hot or cold temperatures depending on weather. Be sure to bring a hat, weather-appropriate clothing, sunblock and sunglasses, closed-toed shoes, lunch, and drinking water. Volunteers must have a working smart phone, tablet, or laptop with internet connection.
  • Additional Requirements: Some knowledge of Florida birds and wildlife is preferred; however, novice and beginner birders/wildlife viewers are welcome to participate.
