From about 24s to 1m13s he is seen struggling on the stage and nobody even comes to help perhaps thinking it was part of the act, you will notice that the compere even screams “taaliya” and people clap not realising that the person was struggling.

List of incidents that I have read :

Incidents of death(of humans) by cardiac arrest on location. In each case the person was exposed to high decibel sounds(is there some particular pitch,frequency also involved?)  from  multiple large high dB loudspeakers facing them. The other factors may include atmospheric heat combined with high humidity levels; additional heat from high intensity stage lighting; heavy perspiration; fatigue; possible pre-existing illness; lack of sleep; heavy clothing not allowing good ventilation of skin; painting of the skin; regular bursting of high decibel fire-cracker bombs.

The below report states that this was nearly the last part of the play, so this may have been after 5 – 6 hrs. The performances usually begin after 10pm and go on the entire night until daybreak. They are held in the open air. The loudspeakers used can be heard nearly 1-2kms away(so you can imagine the decibels) and the performance is interspersed with firecracker bombs and serial firecrackers. A relative of this art form – Kola( made world famous by the recent run-away hit movie “Kantara”) does not use loudspeakers. There are no reports of deaths from the Kola performances although they liberally use firecracker bombs the entire night.The question is why?

Mangaluru: Yakshagana artiste breathes his last on stage due to cardiac arrest

Guruvappa Bayaru (58), an artiste of Sri Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana troupe, breathed his last on Thursday December 22 night during the performance of Yakshagana play due to cardiac arrest.... The last part of the play was being presented. Suddenly, Bayaru, who was standing on the stage, collapsed and fell down from the stage. Though he was rushed immediately to hospital, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

P.S: early this month a 45 yr old helper at a yakshagana died of heart attack after the performance during packing. As it did not happen on stage and because there is no video I have left it out of the list.
