(1) para 37 of pg. 44 of pdf of NGT order Original Application No. 681/2018 dtd. 8/04/2021:

Such gaps need to be addressed especially by Police and environment Departments who are entrusted with the responsibility of control of noise under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000. Atleast from 01.11.2021, the concerned States/heads of police force must be held liable to pay compensation @ Rs. 10 lakhs per month on the same pattern as failure to enforce action plans for control of air pollution.
