Hey Voltans!

We're writing to you about an amazing program that Volta is proud to support!

The Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) Advisory Committee is working on a new initiative designed to advance the employment of immigrant women in Nova Scotia and is seeking companies within the Volta community who might be interested in getting involved.

This project, which is funded by the Status of Women and led by ISANS, is working to discover why professional immigrant women were having difficulty advancing in their place of work. The project is being rolled out in three phases as follows:

Phase 1: Discover the reasons behind why immigrant women are underemployed;

Phase 2: Share those barriers with NS employers to build awareness

Phase 3 (current phase): Collaborate with employers to develop an action plan to break through those barriers within their organizations. The ultimate goal is to create strategies to implement change in the workplace so that organizations can optimize the pool of talent available, and create an environment that is equitable, inclusive, and welcoming for all employees.

How You Can Help:
ISANS is currently looking for employers across the province to talk about their hiring policies and practices that exist within their organization, to share their set of recommendations as well as work with employers to optimize the pool of talent available in their workplace.

For more information on how to get involved and to set-up a time to chat with ISANS, please contact:
