How do I get rid of this annoying pop-up message: "To use the Java command-line tool you need to install a JDK." I have installed the latest Java update after upgrading my Macbook Pro to Catalina. This message pops up periodically and repeatedly.

Thank you for the ideas. I have gone to Oracle and downloaded/installed the latest version from October 2019, Java 8 Version 231. I am also going to use Safari instead of Chrome and see if this eliminates the pop-up. However, the pop-up comes onto my desktop even if I'm not on any browser, so we'll see....

I can't get rid of this terrible popup either! Spent an hour on the phone with Apple Support (2x) and still no solution. Tried to remove all Java, and it still returns again and again. Someone have an answer?

I have not found any solutions as of yet. I think I will make an appointment at the Genius Bar and try to get rid of the pop-up that way. Hopefully somebody at Apple will have a solution for this very annoying problem.

As already noted, you can try one of Oracle's Java JDK's from Oracle.com, but if that doesn't work, it is likely because the app developer's are stupid and failed to make the Java app work as it should by finding the most compatible installed Java runtime and using that.

I had a lengthy session in Chat support. We were able to look in the LaunchAgent folder, the LaunchDaemon folder, and the Login Items at start up. I deleted anything possibly related to Java or suspicious. Then I restarted the Mac and the same pop-up was there! So then I restarted the Mac in Safe Mode and there is no pop-up! The theory is that somehow my cache or start-up directory had an issue. Hopefully the Safe Mode will resolve the problem once and for all. I'll post again if the pop-up comes back.

After restarting my Mac without Safe Mode, the pop up is STILL there!!!! So then I trashed all AdobeCS software and.......restarted only to STILL get the pop-up. There MUST be something within the Startup that is triggering this pop-up. What else can I try? I don't want to always run my Mac in Safe Mode because it clearly runs slower.

Older software sch as adobe Photoshop and Illustrator cs6 or earlier requires legacy java support. Even if you deleted the applications themselves there could still be support files that ask for Java.

I went into the Apple Store with a Genius appointment. As it turns out, Oracle now has the correct update for Java to use with Mac OS Catalina. It is jdk-13.0. It is installed now and the annoying pop-up is finally gone! It seems Oracle was about 5 months behind, but now the problem seems resolved.

java.lang.RuntimeException: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to initialize connector [Connector[HTTP/1.1-9000]]
Caused by: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to initialize connector [Connector[HTTP/1.1-9000]]

This is my test environment. It was cloned, changed hostnames and passwords (including certificates and passphrases). Got almost everything (for example problems with DBRT but shouln't affect SASServer startup) up and running and suddenly after a while when I needed to restart the system I noticed that SASServer12_1 won't come up after restart. Didn't do anything. catalina.out says:

Further instructions said that if it still fails it might have something to do with the lib-directory (bunch of jar files).
They should be same files as the ones under for example SASServer1_1/lib.
If comparing the contents of the directories differ, maybe some of those jar files are corrupted. If so, then again stop all the services, backup, overwrite corrupted file(s) and try again.

Still, this clone probably won't be ready to be a real production system, as this procedure is not officially supported by SAS Technical Support, and I can tell you that chances are high you might have challenges during the life cycle of this clone. If you use, you will assume all the risks.

Furthermore, this clone does need a new license you need to purchase at SAS Institute. Otherwise, legally speaking you would be incurring in one of the contract termination clauses defined in your supplement. Unless, of course, this clone is something discussed and agreed with your SAS Account Manager.
