Hey, I was just faced with a rather discerning issue regarding my modpack and suddenly not being able to light nether portals. I'm running this client off of Forge, 1.16.5 java minecraft and I haven't a single clue as to what's causing my perfectly legal portals to not light as I click the flint and steel on them.
Modlist:
Those screens were from a new world.
But now it's starting to crash every time I launch it, so maybe it's a sign that I should just let go and start anew.
at least on 1.17.1 I can ignite a portal, so that's already progress there.
Morgul portals are similar to Elven portals in that, unlike the Ring portal, they can be destroyed if needed and more than one can be made. they are made similarly to the Elven portal but using only things found by Orcs rather than by Elves. The sickly green light of the portal gives off particles like that of a splash potion and will rise and fall like the ebb and flow of the tides.
You need at least +1 Mordor-, Angmar- or Dol Guldur- alignment to make Gulduril pillars, activate and use this portal. When you try to use it without the needed alignment, you will take damage instead of teleporting. Although, you can build it out of Gondor bricks, positive Gondor-alignment does not help here.
Morgul portals may only be constructed in Middle-earth or the Overworld so that the player may travel between those two dimensions. They cannot be constructed in the End, Nether, or Utumno dimensions. Note that to construct the portal you have to first travel to Middle-earth to acquire the materials and the necessary alignment. It does not have to be constructed in a certain biome.
Gulduril ore can be found deep in Mordor, Angmar and Dol Guldur caves, and can be identified by the green crystals and glow it emits. You only require twelve of the crystals for the portal. Once they are gathered, return to the spot you intend to make the portal.
To make the frame you need to dig out a 3x3 hole in the ground, then put 3 block tall pillars of Mordor, Angmar, Dol Guldur or Gondor bricks at the corners. Even a mixture of these types - plus the variants - works. The 3x3 hole must be surrounded by and supported by solid blocks.
For this step you need to get 9 buckets of lava and fill the 3x3 hole in the center. Once done, take the Gulduril crystals and right click each of the 12 bricks, which will make them into gulduril bricks (notice the shimmering green veil).
This mod was made mainly for nostalgic reasons, and to allow a clear comparison between the current day PG and the early versions. Do not expect it to be updated beyond MC 1.12.2 nor for it to receive any support. As expected, the mod will need ModLoader, ModLoaderMP and AudioMod Minecraft Forge.
EDIT: I feel like I need to clarify that this is talking about a Portal Gun Classic version. Portal Gun has been available for Minecraft 1.12.2 for quite a while now but can only be downloaded off CurseForge at this moment.
This is where it gets interesting. There will be a lot more text here rather than pictures. Trying to adapt a concept as gold as portals and the portalgun for MC survival is going to be hard. I have some ideas that I would like to share with you here first.
This mod took an excruciating amount of time to rewrite. Part of it was already done last year, as some of you may remember. Unfortunately, I got burnt out working on it and shelved it. About a month ago I took it out and blew the dust off it and the result of continuing that work is what you see out now. Personally, I feel like I spent more time on it over the last month than I did last year.
Both World Portals and Portal Gun are not easy mods to write. As I stated yesterday, I felt that this release was not up to my usual standard of mod releases. I sought the help of several developers on stuff I had trouble on and not many could help me solve those issues proper. I will have to admit, that I am pooped out once again and will have to take a bit of a break to focus on life and recuperate.
Start from MC 1.19.x+, this mod is compatible with only one version of Sodium. Fabric will show the error when you are using an incompatible version of Sodium. The same applies to Iris.
Immersive Portals mod is incompatible with some mods. It's recommended to check Known compatibility issuesopen in new window before using this mod. The mods that don't touch inner game mechanics are likely to be compatible with iPortal.
This mod deeply changes the game engine and eliminted the game engine's limitation to achieve the result. Vanilla Minecraft does not allow loading multiple dimensions on client at the same time. Vanilla's rendering engine also does not work with portal rendering. The see-through portal and seamless teleportation cannot be achieved without deeply changing the game engine.
Any mod compatibility issue is NOT intentional. Other mods use the game engine in some ways and this mod changes the game engine, so there may be incompatibility. Incompatibilities are not made intentionally. The compatibility issues come from how computer programs work.
Fixing compatibility issues requires a lot of efforts. Compatibility issues can be fixed by ad-hoc hacking which is both hard and fragile. This mod is compatible with Sodium and Iris via ad-hoc hacking which is fragile (It's possible that next version of Sodium/Iris will not be compatible with iPortal). The close-sourced mods such as OptiFine are much harder to do ad-hoc hacking with so I marked OptiFine as incompatible.
Loading more chunks and rendering more things will affects performance. I already put a lot of efforts into optimizing this mod's performance and make portal rendering compatible with Sodiumopen in new window (not all Sodium versions are compatible with ImmPtl, see the above).
It's recommended to allocate more memory to Minecraft. Not having enough memory will make the game laggy. Sometimes the official launcher will by default only allocate 2GB to Minecraft even if the computer have many memory. How to allocate more RAM to Minecraftopen in new window
If you don't want that, open the config via mod menu, then disable "Enable Server Performance Adjustment" and "Enable Client Performance Adjustment". If it's in a server, change enableServerPerformanceAdjustment to false in the server's mod config file and restart the server.
Jade is a super helpful Minecraft mod, particularly when you have a range of texture or world-changing mods installed alongside it. Not only does Jade tell you which item you are looking at, but it provides additional information, too, like the contents of a chest or any status effects applied to a mob.
For those who need a reminder of what the Minecraft enchantments do at a glance, the Enchantment Descriptions mod gives you the description of any enchanted book in your inventory. This mod also supports modded enchantments and will display these tooltips in over 13 languages.
The EnvironmentZ mod, like Thermite below, adds new, treacherous weathers, seasons, and environments. Not only are you challenged by the heat and cold or various biomes, but there are a range of new craftable items to help you deal with them, such as polar bear fur armor and heated stones.
In vanilla Minecraft, you can freeze and take damage when stuck in deep powder snow blocks. Thermite essentially takes that idea and stretches it across the whole game: proximity to torches and campfires, for example, increase your temperature, while additional circumstances cool you off, such as rain and nighttime. Thermite even has dynamic wind, shown as particles moving around you, and wind even increases in strength the higher up you are. Essentially, think Minecraft but survival hardcore.
Inspired by the iconic enemies from Doctor Who, this Weeping Angels mod introduces a new hostile mob of sorts. These stunning weeping angel statues that appear in the world are a sight to behold, and holding that stare is exactly what you should do. The second you turn your back on one of these pretty figures, they come to life and attack. Rather than dealing damage, these stone creatures teleport you if they get close enough to touch you and can even transport you to another dimension.
Spawn is one of a few excellent Minecraft mods by Ninni, also the creator of Good Ending (further down this list!). Adding a plethora of new mobs to Minecraft, Spawn was only released in November 2023, so is still fairly new, but Ninni plans to increase the number of new mobs over time. Now, though, there is still plenty to discover, as well as new items and even biomes related to the mobs. There are snails, hamsters, seahorses, angler fish, and even ants.
With such a massive open world, getting back to where your home base can sometimes be a huge hassle. However, with the Waystones mod, you can craft Waystones in survival mode and place them to allow travel between them. You can also make Warp Scrolls or Warp Stones to teleport from anywhere. The mod also allows for random generation in the world of these items and global Waystones for Minecraft servers or Minecraft adventure maps.
Good Ending by modders Orcinus and Ninni overhauls the Minecraft wilderness, making the survival game even more beautiful than it already is. If you were one of the players disappointed when fireflies were scrapped from the Wild Update, then Good Ending is for you. Modders have implemented the popular mechanic instead, meaning both the daytime and nighttime atmospheres are incredible in this stunning mod.
The Supplementaries mod is an excellent complimentary mod to use alongside vanilla Minecraft and adds many new Redstone items, decorative blocks, and other tools and equipment. If you ever felt like you needed a pulley system or a weather vein that produces a Redstone signal, then Supplementaries has it. Want to lock something up with a key or proudly display your Netherite tools on a pedestal? It has that, too. To use Supplementaries, you must also install the Moonlight Library mod.
