Subject: Fwd: Opening Ceremony

Dear participants of Opening Ceremony,
As the chair-person for the Opening ceremony of the Kccna convention, I would like to thank the choreographer Jinoo Varghese for putting together this magnificent show, in-spite of her time constraints. There were many variety programs in this show such as the aerial dance and shadow play.

I would like to thank Domy Tharayil for writing the swagatham song for us, which was written just for this show. I would like to thank Linson Kaithamala for writing the VoiceOver script. The narration of VoiceOver was done by Jeevan Joseph and Christine Kulangara. Special thanks to Saji Panayaparambil for the video clips for the back screen. And thanks to Benny Thomas for the recording of the VoiceOver.

Next I would like to thank Josh Nediakalayil and Michele Kulangara for the choreography of the youth segment and the energetic performance on the stage.

Special thanks to all the committee members and coordinators Sheeba Mutholam, Anitha Panayaparambil, Leelamma Arackal, Alfie Vakkel, Sunil Koithara, Sibil elavumkal, Julie Chootuvelil, Shane Nediakalayil, Jeevan Joseph, Linson Kaithamalayil, Josmy Edukuthara, Mannu Thirunelliparambil, Jaya Kulangara, Vinitha Perikalathil, Sindhu Pulickathottiyil, Manju Kallidukiyil,
Binu Edakara, Bincy Ammaikunnel, Siju Vellaramkalyil, Manju Kollangadiyil, and Shiny Viruthikulangara.

Next I would like to thank my husband Punnoose Thachet And my kids for all the support they gave me during this 6 month project.

I would also like to thank KCS for giving me this opportunity and also KCCNA for providing the fund for this project. I would like to thank all the participants and the parents for making this a reality.

Unfortunately, there was a technical issue that happened during the show which no one still know what the real cause was. After discussing this with the stage contractor, only a full stage rehearsal or running the whole file (audio/video file) on the actual stage sound and video system prior to the program was the only way of detecting the anomaly in the file prior to the program.

Unfortunately, this was not possible for us because the program was on the first day and the sound engineer started his shift 5 mins before the mass started. A stage rehearsal was requested many times but that never happened because the construction of the stage was finished the last minute also.

I think if the whole convention programs, time schedule and all the committees were ready to go at least a month in advance, lot of these last minute errors could have been avoided. That said, lets not forget that, we all are amateurs and we all do this as voluntary work out of our passion to our community. So let's all learn from our mistakes, forgive each other for the shortcomings.

I would like to end this note with this quote:

"Many of us are afraid to follow our passions, to pursue what we want the most because it means taking risks and even facing failure. But to pursue your passion with all your heart and soul is success in itself. The greatest failure is to have never really tried."

Prathibha Thachet
Chairperson for Welcome/Opening Ceremony
2014 KCCNA Convention Chicago

For the Welcome/Opening Committee

CHICAGO KCS CONGRATULATE PRATHIBHA THACHET AND THE ENTIRE TEAM FOR UNDERTAKING ARGUABLY THE MOST INNOVATIVE WELCOME CEREMONY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF KCCNA CONVENTIONS MADE OF EXPERIMENTAL AERIAL DANCE AND SHADOW PLAY INTERTWINED WITH DIVERSE CULTURAL THEMED DANCES WELL FITTED TO THE HERITAGE OF CHICAGO.
EVEN THOUGHT IT WAS UNFORTUNATE THAT A SMALL TECHNICAL ERROR, WHICH AS YOU SAID COULD HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED IF THE PROGRAM SCHEDULE WERE READY IN ADVANCE THE CHARTING OF WHICH WAS NOT IN THE HANDS OF THE HOSTING UNIT, DIMINISHED A LITTLE TO BRING ABOUT THE FULL BEAUTY ON STAGE AS YOU AND TEAM ENVISIONED, THE ENTIRE PROGRAM ITSELF,THE HARD WORK. FRESH APPROACH AND ORIGINAL TALENT OF THIS TEAM WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR EVER!

THANKS,
KCS EXECUTIVE BOARD
