Today's Idaho Statesman features a 'small' article concerning Developers fighting proposed IMPACT FEES on new-growth in Pocatello, Idaho.

Pocatello, like many Idaho communities has been hard hit by Developers, their developments over have overburdened the community's schools, sewer & water system, fire & police protection, roads, etc.
Idaho's current Annexation Law provides Developers with a free-ride aka 'Developer Discount', forcing Taxpayers to subsidize the State's Land Speculators, Developers & Realtors ventures, through rocketing Property Tax increases.
 
The lack Impact Fees on new growth significantly reduces a Developer's start-up costs, providing speculators with rapid deep pocket profits on under- priced properties.
Appropriate Impact Fees are assessed on all new-growth by all other States, out of fairness to Taxpayers in nearby communities.
 
Unfortunately, 55% of Idaho's Elected State and Local Government Officials, represent the will of the 'influential' Realtor, Developer, Contractor Cartel, IACI ' Idaho Association of Commerce & Industry', and sister organizations Idaho Associations of Counties & Cities.
Voting records on numerous failed Citizen Sponsored Annexation Reform Bills, serve as hard Oath of Office betrayal evidence.
 
Most citizens feel the 'proposed'  Special Session on Property Taxes, will only result in higher Sales Taxes and the use of over-paid taxes, in an attempt to quell the rapidly growing Taxpayer Revolt.

There can be no legitimate Property Tax Reform or SMART GROWTH, until 'appropriate' IMPACT FEES are properly assessed on all new-growth, holding new growth financially responsible for it's costly impact on nearby community resources. 

Idaho's National ranking of 2nd from the bottom for Ethical Standards required to hold Public Office, is directly responsible for the rampant corporate & political corruption. 
 
Boise City Mayors, City Council, the Planning & Zoning Board and Ada County Commissioners, have long been used and recognized as the State's Testing-Grounds for bad behavior.
Rampant Forced Annexations and Developers asking for Annexation to evade Infrastructure costs, set Statewide precedence for Urban Sprawl, Taxation & Property Rights Abuse by Developers and their local officials.
 
Growing tempers of citizens demanding a Representative Government, places these wayward Legislators and local Officials much closer to a tar-&-feather cycle of retribution and a Benedict Arnold legacy placed on their families.
 
Recent Mayoral & City Council Recalls in Star & Kuna are based on the above Conflict of Interest corruption, and serve as examples of citizens taking back control of their communities.
