Today's 6-28-2006 Idaho Statesman 'OUR VIEW' editorial article, finally addresses Realtor / Developer Political involvement in avoiding personal financial responsibility in Growth & Development.  

 

The primary factor behind Idaho's soaring Property Taxes has been the 'Lack of IMPACT FEES' on new growth, that all other States charge out of fairness to nearby community taxpayers.

The lack of Impact Fees have provided Developers a free-ride at taxpayer's expense as nearby Community residents forced to subsidize and provide the costly services, schools, police & fire protection, sewer services, etc. that these Developments require.     

 

Idaho's ' Developer Discount ' has also attracted a flood of Land / Real Estate Speculators anxious to take advantage of the rampant Urban Sprawl and windfall profits this 'loophole' provides. 

Idaho's Realtors have enjoyed unprecedented sales & profits at taxpayer's expense, their Lobbyists have aggressively worked to defeat all citizen sponsored Bills favoring restoration of citizen's Voting & Property Rights

Influential Lobbyists for Idaho's Realtor, Developer & Contractor Cartel, IACI { Idaho Assoc. of Commerce & Industry}, sister organizations Idaho Associations. of Cities & Counties,, Chambers of Commerce, etc. have been successful in defeating all Citizen Sponsored Annexation Reform Bills. These Bills would have simply replaced Idaho's Forced Annexation law, with Voting Rights, providing citizens with a Voice & Vote in growth and Taxation issues.

Over 55% of Idaho Legislators and Local Government Officials have sold themselves and their Constituent's Rights to the Cartel, this betrayal is well documented by Officials Voting Records & testimonies at Legislative & Local Government Hearings. 

 

Reporters for The Idaho Statesman and other Media's have personally witnessed these acts of Political & Corporate Corruption, but have elected to remain silent until now.

The Cartel's membership is the primary Advertiser in the Statesman, many feel this influenced the newspapers long history of refusing to report on the corruption & Political Conflict of Interest wrong-doing or allow Readers View articles exposing the corruption.

Perhaps the recent 'change' in newspaper ownership has encouraged higher ethical reporting standards.
