Dear B.CLIP Leaders,

Greetings from B.PAC!

The voting percentage of Bengaluru City during 2008 and 2013 elections for Legislative Assembly of Karnataka was 47.22% and 58.27% respectively.

The above figure shows citizen participation in electing their representatives is much lower in a city with over 1.1 Crore population. As you are aware, there is a large section of citizens in the city who have not yet enrolled to be a voter. B.PAC is continuing the efforts to sensitize those who have not yet registered to vote to become a registered voter through our ‘One Million New Votes’ (OMNV) Campaign.

The Campaign message is loud and clear – DEMOCRACY is built on YOUR VOTE. The first step to strengthen democracy is enrolling as a VOTER.

From 24th of October to the 24th of November, voter registration forms will be collected at respective Ward offices by AERO/ERO. Also please note the special drive at polling stations/booths will be organized on Saturdays, 5th and 19th of November. We request all our B.CLIP members to spread the message to your contacts to cover a large number of citizens to fill forms and submit it at polling stations/booths.

B.PAC is organizing OMNV Launch Program, on Thursday, November 2nd morning. BBMP Commissioner has accepted our invitation to address the program and to extend full support for the OMNV campaign. We are working on the program schedule and venue. An invite with further details will be sent shortly. We request all of you to block your calendar and take part in the OMNV launch Program.

Regards,

Team B.PAC

Subject: Invite to Introduce 'One Million New Votes' (OMNV) Campaign to register new voter in Bengaluru City - Wed, Oct 11 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at ESV Hall, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

Context:

The only solution to make a better city is for all citizens to make their voice heard through voting in all civic elections. The elections to administrative bodies like BBMP, State Legislative Assemblies and Lok Sabha are crucial to our city and therefore Karnataka and hence India. Unfortunately, a number of the educated middle class has opted out of using their vote, probably because they think that their votes will not make a difference. This has resulted in bad governance and unresponsive representatives.

We want to impress upon the middle class that their vote counts. The educated middle class in today, Bangalore is a large section of the voting class. Its a large enough number to dramatically change voting results, if only we all go out and vote. That is the awareness that the Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) is aiming to create through the “One Million New Votes Campaign”. B.PAC is working to foster better governance and citizen participation in the city of Bangalore.

The “One million New Votes campaign” is an initiative to make elections a truly democratic process by giving every Bengalurean a voice. B.PAC in association with BBMP & CEO-KA will run a series of campaigns across the city to increase the voter registration in Bengaluru City.

We urge B.CLIP Civic Leaders to actively involve in running the voter registration drive in their respective wards. An introductory session is being organised.

Date & Time : Wed,Oct 11 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Venue : ESV Hall, M P Birla, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

Request all B.CLIP leaders to attend the session and drive the OMNV campaign in your locality. Please confirm you signing to run the OMNV campaign by replying to bc...@bpac.in.
