We've heard from a lot of people concerning a lot of feature requests. We love it. We love to see people really getting good use out of the app.

For quite some time now, we've been saying 2.0 is coming, 2.0 is coming. Well, it's now on the market, and we're really excited. Of course, we couldn't add all in one update, every feature request we've received. So, leave a comment mentioning what you would most like to see. Or vote for some of these that we still have in mind:

-Schedule Voice Choice on/off depending on day and time
-Widget for quickly turning Voice Choice on/off
-"Power User Mode" Maintain more than one list(Direct, GV, Prompt)

Many many thanks to all those who have downloaded Voice Choice. Your support is greatly appreciated/needed for continued development.

- Tasker integration as the ultimate way to choose when to block GV
- Block GV over strong WiFi connections

Google Voice intercepts calls that could otherwise be handled by the native dialer's built-in internet calling in new Androids, putting these over the cell network. Both of these features would fix this.

Audrey,

Was native calling through WiFi (without using minutes) added to a stock Android Jelly Bean?  I guess I missed that super-important event.

Vladimir,

Yes! I think it may even have come on Gingerbread, but I had 2.1 on the Motorola Charm before Jelly Bean on the Nexus 4. I used it for a couple of weeks with no SIM card at all - native WiFi calling through, ironically, GV via PBXes. The problem: GV app intercepts the native dialer without regard to whether or not it is using SIP. Voice Choice somehow overrides the GV app, and I can't figure out how it does this.

yeah, SIP is built-in, now, but there is no SIP Google Voice endpoint, as far as I know. Gizmo5 used to act as a GV SIP number, but Google bought them and shut them down.

Oh, I got it. I'd have to find/setup SIP to get it working. Too bad Google didn't allow Gizmo5 SIP to continue.

Jeff,

I had Gizmo5 before it became GrandCentral and then GV - naively thought that Google was going to further Gizmo5 rather than shut them down. PBXes works very well for GV SIP although it's limited to a whopping 2000 minutes monthly for free accounts.

So my native dialer uses GV PBXes SIP over WiFi for free, but when the GV app is set to make calls, it blocks the native SIP support.

Just downloaded the 2.0 app and I want to say this thing is a lifesaver! I do wish it worked a little differently and I'll describe that here:

It would be great if I could maintain 2 lists, a direct call list and a GV call list. If I call a number on either list, voice choice would route the call accordingly but if I go to call a number which is not on either list then voice choice would automatically prompt me to select GV or direct call with a checkbox option to add the number to the corresponding list.

This would be my ideal setup!

Thanks...

What Rob is asking sounds reasonable.

I couldn't believe Google haven't yet implemented Voice Choice functionality directly in GVoice. It's just not very usable without Voice Choice. But for Kevin these sluggishness of Google is probably a good thing ;)

@Rob @Vladimir

A series of recent events has re-ignited development on Voice Choice and we expect to have some improvements soon. We are really excited and can't get to get it all out to you guys.

I know it's been a while, but I'd like to second Audrey's requests. I've been looking everywhere for an app that will either block GV on wifi or will integrate with Tasker to allow all manner of custom calling rules.

I'd like to second two posts on here from Audrey and Rob:  Include Tasker integration (Audrey) and do what Rob mentions:
"t would be great if I could maintain 2 lists, a direct call list and a GV call list. If I call a number on either list, voice choice would route the call accordingly but if I go to call a number which is not on either list then voice choice would automatically prompt me to select GV or direct call with a checkbox option to add the number to the corresponding list."

This would also be the ideal setup for me.  Tasker integration would be frosting on the cake.  As it stands the app really isn't usable for me since I can't pick how to handle calls that aren't on my list, and since I use my phone for work (direct dial) and personal (Google Voice) I can't really set either as a default for all calls to people not in my contacts.
