I'm sorry if I'm missing something stated elsewhere, but I can't tell precisely how VC works, or if it does what I need.  I have searched the Google Group, and the Worthwhile... website, and the description in Google Play.

I want an app that will intercept my outgoing call, dial my Google Voice number and PIN, and then send my outgoing call number so that Google connects it for me.  So the only number my phone (or carrier) will ever see me calling out to is my Google Voice number.  (I *don't* want my phone to call various GV access numbers, which is the behavior of the GV app.)

I've downloaded the VC free version, and it doesn't seem to do anything at all.  I can't find a config where I turn it on or off; can't find a config where I would enter my GV number and PIN.  I can only find the include/exclude lists, but putting numbers in either list hasn't affected any behavior of my phone.

(I currently have the GV app installed; but I have it set to never make calls for me, since it doesn't provide the behavior I'm looking for.)
(I have tried Dialer-X, which does what I want.  But Dialer-X has a bunch of bugs that prevent me from using it.)

Thanks for any help/explanations.

Kenneth,

The feature you're looking for is explained in the Google Play description under the section "Extra Features in 2.0".

-Free calls: add your Google Voice number to your provider's free call list(Verizon F&F, myFaves, etc) and use Voice Choice to make all calls through your GV number. Can toggle on/off in settings

So, yes, it is not in the free version. After you install and launch 2.0 you'll want to do the following:
  1. Select "2.0 Beta" button
  2. Press Menu
  3. Press Settings
  4. Scroll down to and select "Dial through GV"
  5. Type in your GV number and your GV pin if needed
After you've done this and you make a call, Voice Choice will modify the number being called so that it will dial your GV number, put in your pin, etc. just as you explained. Notice, you'll need to make sure you don't have any "unread" voicemails in your inbox. Otherwise, the automated system will begin to play them for you rather than pressing '2' and dialing out.

If you ever want to make a call with your cell phone number(for whatever reason), you can use the exclusion list you mentioned and perhaps in combination with the Quick Dial feature(also found in settings).

Let me know if I can clarify any further, and let me know if you think there is a better way to describe things or place to include descriptions, etc. We do hope you'll be able to make good use of Voice Choice.

-Kevin

Great!  Thanks, Kevin, for the quick reply and the clear explanation.
I'll try it out.

Kevin, just to wrap this:  VoiceChoice 2.0 (beta) did exactly what I wanted (and what I described in my earlier post) -- and it doesn't have any of the problems I had with Dialer-X.  Thanks for helping me find the right solution!
