Ok... I thought I read on  here that someone used the IVONA voices free trial with the voice attack program, and am wanting to learn how they did that?

I emailed IVONA and asked if their voices would work using the Windows 7 reader, and this is their response:

Hello,

Thank you for your email. All IVONA Voices are compatible with Windows SAPI5 standard. If you have used Windows voices you will be able to use IVONA the same way.

Please download the Trial version (valid for 30 days) and check if our application meets your expectations.

The Trial can be downloaded here: http://www.ivona.com/us/voices/

Best regards,

I would love to use (or at least try out) the IVONA voices ...or ANY other voices other than the lame one that comes with Windows 7, but I have no clue as how to use the SAPI5 or where to put the voice...move the file....???

Can anyone help?

Too bad Glados hasn't been hired to do a voice for TTS. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Cool!  Thanks, Brian.  I'm going to check this out after work today.

I'm thinking that if IVONA does what they say it does, you should just be able to install it and then those voices should be available to VoiceAttack in the dropdown list when you set up your TTS.

Ok, I got it to wok.

I downloaded their UK and US voices from their free "voicepack 2".. after installing, in the setup of Voice Attack, I had to pick between "Default" or the UK or US something or other (can't remember exactly).

Then, when making my commands and  typing out what I want as a reply to my voice command, I used the drop-down menu to pick the voice that I wanted.

AMY... from the UK in the IVONA voices, is specatular for what you would expect from a "Ship Computer" responding to you. The accent is perfect.

Now, trying to justify the cost ofr the voices. But I'm going to use Voice Attack for both ED and Space Citizen, so I need a GOOD computer voice.

Yeah, Amy on Ivona is on my wishlist as well. I checked out some other companies and none of them have the voice fidelity that Ivona has with their TTS voices.

Brian on Ivona is pretty good as well, if you are looking to make a "Jarvis" type of sound. He's VERY clear and very well pronounced.

I was using Microsoft Hazel, which was ok. However, once I tried British Amy from Ivona I was sold. The voice is so clear and precise, well worth the money, seeing as I'll be using it in Elite: Dangerous and other games for a long time.

I was torn between Amy and Emma... and the Welsh English one. That would have been a very fun voice to go with too. Everything she says has a sense of urgency to it.

I'm more of a fan of Nicole - The Aussie one :)

I use it with star citizen and my only gripe is on the star citizen end, that I can't silence or rerecord the default ship voice to match Nicole

Prefer the American Salli voice.

Can anyone verify if the SAPI voice works after the Ivona Trial?  (never mind the Ivona Software)

I don't think so, the voices are sold separately.

Seen the cost of the voices?  they are  not even that much better than the MS Anna voice.

Ship voice  from Red Dwarf  anyone?

There is a Glados TTS.  That is the whole reason I have joined this group, how to apply it.

There is nothing on that project website, the project files are all gone.

There is no TTS engine/voice currently available at the moment.  The only thing which is close is the GLaDOS voice generator:

http://glados.biringa.com/

I would like to be wrong,  but after a few hours of searching, this GLaDOS voice generator is the best I can find.  I'm not looking to go and create 100's of separate wav files.  I would like a TTS engine/voice as well.
