I have done the speech regonition and the train the computer to better understand you for windows now a couple of times. And when i run voice attack and say "gear" it gives me other words which are totally different. See attachment.
I''m from the Netherlands and i have a European accent so it seems but even though i have a European accent the windows voice recognition software does seem to understand what im saying even while using it in word.

Can someone help me.

Greetings
Thomas

you can manually edit/record in your speech recognition program individual words or phrases...   I forget how to open it up but it will ask you to type the word or phrase your wanting to record then it will have you say it like 2 or three times then it will remember it....   they have this feature for just this purpose, for troublesome words or phrases.

There it is:

I Hope you can start windows speech recog. =P

Also you can change:

Command Weight

This value is the relative weight of the commands in your profile versus everything else you say. The higher the number, the more likely VoiceAttack will make a, 'best guess' at what you say. For example, when this value is at maximum (100), your commands have full weight. That means that basically everything you say will be interpreted into a command. If you say, 'flag', and, you have no command called, 'flag', but, the closest

match is, 'bag', VoiceAttack will execute the command named, 'bag'. Note that a high value in this option will probably not be desirable when VoiceAttack's listening is on all of the time (especially if you carry on conversations). However, a high value may be

beneficial when using the push-to-talk feature. Play around with this number to get the

right balance for your speaking style.

Also how do I edit my posts?

Hey Molisk,

Thanks for some inputs but i did both things you said and i have to say it picks up my voice a little better but still not the way i want it to.
I want it to be 9 out of 10 a hit on the commands i give. I played around with both the command weight and the dictionary thing but the results still look terrible.

I didn't mentioned voice training.
 - I'm not a native english speaker, actually I did spoke more english today than in my past life. -

Point is: It helps and not. I had to delete, and redo my trainings over and over to make it right. After some awful sessions, I actually made speech recog. miss even more.
So as last resort you can try to train it over again. I know it suck but worth it.
First I had to use 95% command veight with a few dozen commands now Im down at 70% and barely any unrecognized commands, newer a miss.
If there that is my fault, not speaking clearly, or stuttering.

Again if you followed what I said you wouldn’t have to adjust other settings like the weight etc....  please follow these directions and manually record YOUR voice for whatever word or phrase your having difficulty with speech recog understanding...

You can add words that you frequently dictate, such as names, to the Speech Dictionary so that Speech Recognition recognizes those words.

  1. Open Speech Recognition by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking Windows Speech Recognition.

  2. Say "start listening" or click the Microphone button to start the listening mode.

  3. Say "open Speech Dictionary."

  4. Click or say Add a new word, and then follow the instructions in the wizard.

I did just that as well dave. and even then the weight has to be set at 95 or higher until it gets me.

Greets,
Thomas

PS: for a program i bought i have to tweak to much myself which sounds ridicules if you ask me. OK some tweaking is allowed but this much. It's like i have to rewrite the program. Cant they make a option in that system where you record your own voice/command and then save it. So it will compare that exact same phrase.

hmmm that’s odd.. if you recorded your voice for the particular word or phrase your having problems with it shouldve solved the issue period...   im out of ideas but hopefully someone else can chime in...

Something else I should throw out there is to make sure you don't have any kind of voice-changer software turned on... this has bitten several, including myself (you know when you get into Teamspeak with your guild and you want to sound like a chipmunk for some strange reason..?).

Also, make sure your audio isn't being picked up by another mic in your room.  A big culprit is the webcam mic.  I have also had this happen to me.  It *seemed* like my headset mic was picking up the audio, but it was actually my webcam on the desk.

Hope that helps some.

Is your headset mic set as the default input device?

Try saving any one of those "recognized phrases" (hair down, care down, etc...) as your command. Just because VA does'nt recognize it as what you said doesn't mean you can't program it to work off of what it hears. If the program uses the confidency model for recognizing key phrases, and you select the "most likely" word arrangement that VA hears when you say the command, it should start recognizing that command consistently once you program it in.

Just make sure you save comments on the command so you can remember which actual command it uses instead.  :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the info and the help i got here. But i figured something out. If you want the system to realy understand you better you have to go to default again so that means dont train the computer to understand you.
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Speech Recognition and press advanced speech options. Now you are in the speech recognition Tab here you go to recognition profiles and make a new profile by pressing on new. KEEP IN MIND dont train the program to understand you, instead do what Molisk scout told me. add in the words you want to the dictionary. Go and start the speech recognition and do as Molisk and Bloodhawk do. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gq4N0ZGKTy0/U_rEWZMnFQI/AAAAAAAAAhg/yGJssqTQlt4/s1600/Speech01.png

I think because you train the program to better understand you that you will get conflicts with some words so instead of training the program by reading those sentences just put in the phrases or words you want.

Works a lott better now watch the file i added. I have to say it still misses some times but it looks a hell lot better now.

Greetings
Thomas

PS: I hope people can use this intel in the future.

This is how I do it.

He was trying to say Gear, but Care was heard all he time.

Just add Care to the command, so, if Voice Attack hears Care, it will activate Gear.

Gear;Care

Sometimes Voice Attack will hear a few different words, just add those words as well.

It's a easy workaround, maybe not solve all problems, but it can be a huge help.
