Is it possible to get the English Speech Engine instead of the German one I have?

Hi everyone!

I am an Star Citizen player and recently heard about VoiceAttack. Already saw some awesome videos. I really do like it!
Unfortunately I am not able to change my Speech Engine from German to English. I am German, but I really would like to use the English Speech Engine.

I play all my games in English, I talk to English people a lot and I really would also like to use English commands. I Googled a few hours now, but weren't able to find an English Language Pack.
I found some sort of language pack on the Microsoft website, but it was called "Microsoft Speech Engine Server Runtime". I installed it but I am not able to select new languages. Not in VoiceAttack itself and also not in my control center.

Would be really nice if you can give me a hint where to download and install that stuff.

If it's possible to change the language, I definitely going to buy VoiceAttack!

Thanks! Have a great day.

Cheers,
- Tronnic

VA uses the underlying Microsoft Speech engine for its voice recognition. Therefore I guess that you would need to add the English language information to your Windows setup and it would then allow you to change to "Microsoft  Speech Recognizer 8.0. for Windows (English - UK)" after that train the setup and you should be ok.

On Windows 7, check the "Region and Language" section of the control panel.
There is a tab called "Keyboards and Languages". It says on this tab that languages you install can be used to support speech recognition. Of course that may change your entire windows interface to English, I cannot say!

I you manage to install the English language pack, goto control panel, speech recognition, and change the Language option to English. VA should work fine after that.

Regards,
Slan

It looks like I need Windows 7 Ultimate. I only have Professional. I won't buy an whole new Windows to just be able to download an language pack. :( Isn't there any other way?

Thank you so much! It's installing now. Let's see if it works. If yes, you just made the creator of VoiceAttack 8$ richer. +1 !! :)

Allright, so I got it to work. Had to restore my windows 2 times. I had to install the language, download the newest version of windows update from the microsoft website and let the updater download a few MB's. After plenty of restarts it works now. :-) Thanks.
