Anyone have a suggestion how I can stop this?   For some reason Voice attack is hearing every sound my pc plays in my headphones, meaning that in-game sounds and music etc stop voice attack from being able to recognise my commands most of the time

Hi, Sophie

You probably either need to turn your headphone volume down or use headphones that isolate the sound.  It is also possible that your mic volume may be too high.  Also, you can try moving your headset mic further away.  Outside of that, there's not much you can do, since there is no noise-cancellation built into the speech engine.

Sorry about that!

Thanks but I've tried everything I can think of and the sound is not passing through my mic, it's as if voiceattack is listening to my pc as well as my mic.  It isn't background noise.  I'm puzzled.

That's exactly what's happening to me!

There is now way the software is supposed to do that, and no mic is powerful to pick up sound coming from your headphones, unless they were off your head with volume cranked.

Somehow, VA is inadvertently listening to what is coming through the headphones.  When I shout, it occasionally recognizes my commands, and when the game is very quiet, it recognizes fine.

I've sent an email, as my forum post has received no replies.  If/when the problem is resolved, I will post in this thread or create a new thread.

As it is, VA is unworkable with games.

I replied through the support inbox as soon as I got your email (received 4:45 am central time).  As indicated in the response, please see the thread I had created that outlines how to properly set the recording device on your pc:  https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/voiceattack/0Cksig2tNQk.   VA works great with games if you can properly configure your setup.

I tried changing this and my VoiceAttack still hears everything through my headset. I mute my mic and my chat partner will still trigger my VA over my headset.

Looks like you've got some cross over from other devices.  VoiceAttack uses the default audio recording device for audio input (it's what the Windows Speech engine is using).  You may want to try simply disabling other sound outputs temporarily to see if that changes anything.

Sorry for the delay.  I've been out of pocket for several days while dealing with some medical stuff.
