Hi,

I was trying out Voice attack but for some reason it doesn't come with a speech engine and the only available one for download is for XP.
I'd really like to use this program for Elite dangerous but i just can't get it to work.

Hope you can help.

Hi, Sam.

VoiceAttack uses the speech engine built into Windows.  Some versions of Windows (such as the Dutch version) only include the English version of the speech engine (unless, if I'm not mistaken, you buy Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8 (not sure if Pro is required)).  So, the only solution for those versions of Windows is to either change your language to English or upgrade your version of Windows.

Hope that helps!

Gary

You can try to apply the offical MS language packs onto the Home Premium version using an extrenal tool, "Vistalizator" for example (http://www.froggie.sk/)

In did that a while ago, specifically for VA, on my Vista 7 x64 Home Premium, and it worked like a charm... be sure to read all the instructions, and make a backup/system checkpoint just in case, and you should be good to go.

Hi,

I just installed and uninstalled a few times both the Voiceattack main program and the speechrecognition installer as advised when Windows returns you a "missing speech recognition" software message, I am running Win 8.1 so I can't imagine any particular mistake here. Sure, it's the Italian version, but shouldn't the extra file I downloaded from the voiceattack website do the trick?

I am starting to wonder if voiceattack works at all on non-English versions of Windows.

I ran everything in administrator mode and even though it says that both voiceattack and the XP speech recgonition modules are installed, the program keeps closing after saying I don't have any speech recognition software installed.

So. once again, here is the question. Does voiceattack works on non-English versions of Win 8?

Thanks in advance (I am glad I tried before I purchased).

Same as the messages above, i think is's not a problem with VoiceAttack in itself, but directly related to the Microsoft Speech Engine it relies on; i know for a fact that on Windows 7 you need to have the O.S. interface set to the same language you want the speech engine to work (so English interface for English recognition...in XP for example this was not the case, you could have the UI in Italian but still work with English speech engine)

I'm not entirely sure, but i'm afraid this is still a problem with Windows 8 in Italian...

This is the full procedure: http://www.froggie.sk/usage.html
After you have downloaded the software itself, and the correct packages for you OS version, go to the bottom of the page and you'll find a link to a step-by-step screenshot guide

Hi guys.

I want to install a French pack on my version of Windows to be able to use it on Voice attack so I can use Sally in Star citizen.

I`m very hard headed. This morning I called the French department of Microsoft and asked and asked to an employee if I can install a French language pack on my Home Premium 64 Bit version of Windows 7. She said that it is possible with the DVD but refused to telling me how. She sent me to search on their website (we how how French people are. They`re always slacking their job off to go smoking cigarettes and drink wine). She gave me a ref. number and told me to call back if I don`t find it. So I searched and found those:

This one is interesting but is in French:

Here is an English link:

Personally I did the first 2 steps and got an error so I`m waiting to be well awake to make the step 3 to go to mess with the registries in the Regedit.

Wish me good luck!

Citizen out.

Hi guys. I have good news.

I found how to add a language to Windows Home Premium.

Everything is here and in English.

First you will go on that site to download the LANGUAGE PACK that  you want. In my case it was the French one.

Once you have it, go on this site and fallow the directions:

Note that during the step 6, you might get a message saying that  you need extra Microsoft addons. Don't panic! The program will offer them to you. All you will need is to click on the missing addons, downloading and installing them and that's it. You will be able to change your language. The program will ask you to reboot your machine. Once Windows is rebooted you will see  your new language. And YES you will see the new voice recognition language pack. And you will see that language pack added in Voice Attack.

For any question concerning that topic, do not hesitate to contact me.
