Voice Attack inputting wrong keypress under DirectX mode

Hey all,

I have been having an issue assigning a keypress in Voice Attack, where if the keypress is set to run under Windows Game (DirectX), it presses the wrong key.

Specifically I am having this problem with the \ key (between 'Left Shift' and 'Z'). When using a voice command to issue this keypress, it displays # instead. Changing it to 'Standard' mode will displays the correct \ key, however this is of course no good while in-game! This problem is present if I set V.A.'s keyboard layout to both 'System Default' or 'English - UK', although I've not tried other layout settings.

Would this issue be caused within Voice Attack, or is it something to do with DirectX itself?

Hi, Void.  When you press that key yourself in-game, does the correct character display?

That is the very same issue I had, and was just about to post.

I assigned a voice command to press the \ (backlash key).

In Elite Dangerous I assigned this key to Landing Gear.

I was talking until I was blue in the face, and it would not respond.

If I press the "\" key  on my keyboard in-game, it responds fine.

However, I alt-tabbed out of the game and opened Notepad.

I said my voice command for landing gear, and a "\" character was correctly typed into notepad.

Went back to the game and nothing.

I even tried this key in DX input and standard, but still nothing in-game.

I then changed the key being used in VA and in-game which worked fine.

I'm having the same issue. When I issue the command within some other app it types the correct key. I'm using a finnish/swedish keyboard where the key next to 1 is §.

When in Elite Dangerous I open the key settings and gave the voice command it outputs a ' (single quote) character! So far this seems to be the only key it has trouble with, regardless of kb layout.

Hi,

I've the same issue.

My current keyboard is in French - Belgium.

When I use VoiceAttack with Notepad++ my key is correct if it's NOT directx binding.

The key is wrong when I choose the DirectX binding.

I notice that I've 2 available keyboard layout : French and English.

It seems that the binding with DirectX use the English keyboard.

Please, could you fix it,

Hello guys,

I'm having the same issue with a FR-fr keyboard. I wanted to configure colon key to open galaxy map and exclamation to open system mapin Elite Dangerous. Using DirectX keys make a wrong output, and using standard key has no effect while in the game.

Please help ! :)

Hi, Jaufre.  Sorry that this is a long time coming, but could you specify which key you are having trouble with, since the French Belgium layout is in the list of supported layouts for VoiceAttack (when I switch to the layout, it's labeled as French (Belgium) Belgian French keyboard.  I'm down deep in the guts of this thing finally, and I'm finding some interesting stuff that's either not documented or documented and hidden somewhere in Microsoft's documentation (this is for all layouts).

I'm on this, believe it or not... I think I have your issue squared away.  This was actually a very strange issue that was not easy to just knock out.

I will take a look at your issue... The supported keyboard layout in VoiceAttack is (well...  labeled to me as) Swedish (Sweden) Swedish keyboard.
