to Voice of Hope Radio
To the entire Voice of Hope Team, including those who have departed
for home in the US and Canada, and the Burundian members, (some of
whom learned to climb the tower):
We have just returned safely (through the winter storms of the upper
midwest) to Indianapolis from the campus of Hope Africa University
but have not lost the thrill of hearing the new voice in Burundi
called 'Voice of Hope' for the first time on the car radio while in
Bujumbura. Set in the attractive music, directed at young listeners,
was an initial message, a selection from the Messianic prophecies in
the Old Testament followed by the statement that at His coming Jesus
Christ fulfilled every word of those prophecies. My driver nearly
split his face with a smile as he listened to these first
transmissions.
Congratulations on bringing this vision to birth, assembling the
technical equipment for a quality, professional sound, training
national staff for all parts of the operation--program writing,
newsgathering and newscasting, announcing, control panel management,
maintenance, and all that goes with keeping a station running at top
quality. Even the slim 200 foot tower serves as both a landmark for
navigating the suburb of Ngagara to find the campus of HAU and as a
symbol of hope.
God bless. --Gerald E. Bates, President
