　　他向与会的两岸学术界人士表示，我们要维护和扩大来之不易的成果，使两岸同胞增强促进两岸关系和平发展的信心。要巩固反对"台独"、坚持"九二共识"的共同政治基础，在此基础上增进和深化政治互信，引导两岸关系沿着正确方向迈进。要继续反对和遏制"台独"分裂活动，避免两岸关系停滞甚至倒退，实现可持续发展。

　　孙亚夫还表示，目前，两岸政治、军事等复杂问题商谈一时还开始不了，两岸协商还是按照先易后难、先经后政、循序渐进的思路来安排，但双方应当为今后破解这些难题逐步创造条件。

　　他说，解决问题的途径是存在的，关键是要在大陆和台湾同属一个中国的问题上形成更为清晰和明确的共识。解决问题的方法也是存在的，就是求同存异。先把"同"的观念找出来，确定下来；再来分析"异"的歧见，寻求解决办法；如果一时解决不了，也应当避免突出分歧、激化矛盾，最终在两岸关系和平发展中创造解决的条件。
