VB configuration in showVoc

Hi

I am trying to test the configuration of VB into showVoc. I have a few questions that I am listing below. Any help or advise is appreciated.

Q1. Do i need to set up email configuration before I set up the VB configuration in ShowVoc?

Q2. I am trying to set up the email configurations in both VB and ShowVoc, but i keep getting the error that states the following

"535-5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted. For more information, go to 535 5.7.8  https://support.google.com/mail/?p=BadCredentials d9443c01a7336-23506bdd0e9sm76103395ad.74 - gsmtp"

For reference, I am using the same credentials that I use to login into my VB or ShowVoc account. The credentials have administrator permission.

Q3. If the configuration of VB into ShowVoc is successful, will both the entities talk to each other internally? meaning any changes that are made in VB project, will it be reflected in ShowVoc interface automatically? The documentation that I am referring to for these configurations is here. It explains about the configurations setting but I am unable to figure out the benefits, which is why I wanted to test the configuration. Unless there is some other documentation that I am missing to refer which outlines what functionality happens or what features will be beneficial when VB configuration is set up.

Hi Asmita,

please find answers below:

1. Email configuration is recommended but not strictly necessary. In ShowVoc it is not related to the VB configuration. It becomes necessary if you plan to use the Contribution feature, as that workflow relies on email notifications.

2. In the email configuration, you need to provide the address and the password (or app password, depending on the email provider) of the email account dedicated to sending notifications. Do not use the credentials of the administrator user in VB or ShowVoc, as these are completely separate.

3. The VB configuration in ShowVoc is only used in the Development Contribution flow. Specifically, when a development contribution is accepted, ShowVoc requests the creation of a corresponding dataset in VB. Other than that, the two systems are independent from each other.
