Hi,

Using Vocbench 3 11.3.0, I have an option for "Keep selected tab synchronized with tree/list" in the user's resource view preferences. Is there a way for making this work the other way around too? I'd like to keep the hierarchy-based concept tree synchronized when the concept data is changed.

Dear Joeli,

by first, apologies for keeping this msg pending so long.

I might have got what you ask, but I’m a little confused by the expression “the other way round”.

The “keep…synchronized..” option indeed works “the other way round” of the standard behavior, that is:

  • Normally (no option selected), if you select something on the tree, the related concept is shown in a new tab (if the tabbed mode is enabled) or the tab is selected if it had already been opened
  • if you enable the option, it works the other way round: a concept on the tree is selected when its related tab is selected. This is behind an option because selecting a concept on the tree is fast, yet not really immediate, especially for deep trees so if someone is often frantically switching tab, that kind of sync is an annoyance and may be disabled

However, your request seem to have nothing to do with direction. Am I right that you are talking of simply have changes in the data reflected immediately over the tree? (i.e. without refreshing). Pls confirm. In affirmative case, I can give a cautious general answer, that is: VB3 is not a closed system in which certain statements can be changed only through determined actions, so keeping track of all possible effects could only work if any change is really parsed each time and analyzed for all the possible effects it has and the possible reflections in the various components (first off, the tree). That said, indeed we lost some listener over time for some of the most direct changes that are easier to track: we should restore them and probably add a few more.

Kind Regards,

Armando
