Hello,

Is it possible for an end-user to change the vertical distance between the nodes shown in the Hierarchy View (without simultaneously diminishing the font size of course :-) ?

Rationale: I am managing a large SKOS taxonomy with thousands of concepts, and would like to see as much of the hierarchy as is possible. When comparing the (default) vertical node-distance of VB3 with tools like Protege and - to a lesser degree - Skosmos, there is a lot of white-space in VB.

Dear Mick,

I’m afraid there’s not but..it totally make sense. I can’t promise anything for the (forthcoming) next version as we are full throttle on closing many things that need to be done for releasing it, due to its several core changes wrt the previous one. However, if not in the next one, we will surely address it for the next next one.

Kind Regards,

Armando

Dear Armando,

Since the next (next) release of Vocbench seems to be looming around the corner (a stable version 15.1.1 is mentioned) I was secretly hoping that it would include functionality to  change the vertical node distance in the Hierarchy View. I've got some clients who are eagerly awaiting this feature!

Could you perhaps lift the veil on this one?

Dear Mick,

I’m afraid I was too shallow in mention a “next-next” one. The 15.1.1 doesn’t count as next-next (btw, it will be up soon) as that is only a security update for covering a few emerging CVEs. A security update (and a patch version in any case) cannot feature anything new.

If that is a very urgently requested feature, you can check if any of your clients is willing to support it, and we can officially schedule and secure it for a given date.

In negative case, I promise I would still consider adding it as it is not a big change, but you can imagine we have to follow the roadmaps that are partially dictated by funding organizations, coming orders, etc..

Kind Regards,

Armando

Dear Mick,

just updating you on this. We picked this up and I confirm it will be in the next version  :-)

But, again, it has to be the next minor version at least so, if we publish a new patch version for whatever reason, you won’t probably find it there

Kind Regards,

Armando

Dear Armando,

That is very good news! Thanks for following up on this feature request. And yes, I understand that that will be the next minor version, not a patch.

Kind regards,
Mick Baggen
