How to find VMware Workstation version from within its virtual host?

Using VMware Workstation 15 to run Ubuntu 18.04.4. Writing a script which finds version of the VM among other things from within.

Have tried the following commands but it doesn't list the version.

 inxi -b 
 hostnamectl status 
 lshw -class system 
 dmidecode
