Do vmwaretasks work with Vmware Workstation 14 pro?
After recent update I got:

Failed to connect: serviceProviderType="Workstation" hostName="" hostPort=0 username="" timeout=60
  ----> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException : Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {6874E949-7186-4308-A1B9-D55A91F60728} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
  Exception doesn't have a stacktrace

When I try to connect to workstation using virtualHost.ConnectToVMWareWorkstation();

I don't know if you figured out what you need to do. I had the same error and figured out that I needed to download the VIX tools from VMWare. I had to ensure that I got the latest version as well. I downloaded VMware-VIX-1.14.0-2306114.exe. This allowed me to connect correctly and open a virtual machine.

Hi, I did not solve it, as the API seem to be broken and unmainatined.
I suggest you move to using PowerCLI as I did.
Good luck.

If someone would like to fix it in VMWareTasks I would help with merging changes and what not. I haven't worked with the library for a long time, and would be happy to pass it onto a new set of maintainer(s).
